Everyone knows about the stuttering and frame drop issues since the last patch.
It’s probably the shaders loading and whatnot, after about 5 minutes it seems to calm down.
But I’ve also had some strange network lag happening recently, on both the Steam and Battle.net clients.
I have good ping, around 29 ms, and 250+ FPS, but it’s like the animations are delayed, and I often see enemy heroes teleport from one spot to another 3–5 meters away.
I tried jumping into Linux to see how Overwatch runs there these days.
Surprise, surprise: on my Kubuntu 26.04, the Steam (.deb) version of Overwatch threw a kernel panic not once, but twice, I have never experienced this before, so I booted back into Windows again.
My message is simple: BLIZZARD FIX YOUR GAME.
IT’S BEEN BROKEN SINCE THE PATCH.
FIX YOUR MF GAME.
These issues seem to be not affecting everyone equally. I have no idea what is actually causing stuff like this, from the frame drops (I don’t get these), stutters, and latency in general.
I don’t know if it’s specific settings, or having a high end router with a 2 gbps connection speed modem, or simply luck, but I do not get these issues like others do.
If I could help, I would, because I do love this game.
I am in Sweden, but I will try NA from the Battle.net client.
I don’t think it really switches game-servers anyway, but I will try.
Yeah I am seriously thinking about uninstalling this game.
Something is really broken lately.
Although Overwatch’s optimization was always good in the past, Deadlock is around the corner, so Overwatch is a dead f game anyway at this point, it’s 2026.
I think those affected people have hidden issues that’s hard to pinpoint so the game stutters. It could be ram being unstable on XMP, which happens to me. No warranty as it’s normal according to corsair! Or too weak VRM on motherboard that can’t handle their CPU. Their Powersupply could be dookie too or their gpu has a blown up capacitor. Game is not broken but good luck trying to troubleshoot it so it doesn’t stutter anymore as it could be anything.
Why can lots of people play all these other games but have issues with Overwatch?
I knew this woke lurker would come crawling.
Please kill this game for us and tell all the fans that have issues that the game is not broken, please put the knife in now.
(That’s cute btw, I have tried turning XMP on and off in the BIOS settings, it feels like a month ago now.)
the big thing is, everything worked Just fine until a certain patch went out.
When that patch went out, did it just magically cause a firmware issue on computers outside of drivers or something? I mean i’d think not. but it is awful strange that suddenly just this one specific game, gets this one specific problem, while all the rest of the games i own magically work fine.
My solution so far has been to launch the game, minimize it and wait 3-5 MINUTES before playing it. problem solved.
Shy of my RTX 2060 founders edition being the oldest part in my pc. my 64 GB of DDR5 ram from corsair, AMD Am5, and Asrock motherboard are fairly modern and new. Even my M.2 was done last year.
I play ALL of the game’s settings on “ULTRA LOW” with an Alienware 240hz monitor and things were pretty much just fine, but last year the game’s seen some problems but in the more recent patches, it really stutters.
My thing is, blizzard isn’t being transparent with us, nor are they allowing us to use QP to diagnose our issues. Since leavers penalties is now a thing.
In training range and bots I see the issue some, but with a full group of players, it stutters and sometimes crashes.
tbh i understand the frustration, but blizzard probably doesn’t even play their own game, much less they probably will never read that, other than a customer support agent that is third party and doesn’t even reside at Blizzard.
They look at it, flag it, and most likely will never once forward your thoughts or conveyences over to Blizzard.
Im just going to be honest with you, taking it out on the other people in the match doesn’t do any good.
Giving this game a reason to ban you, is probably not the best idea.
It’s extremely intermittent… but it’s bad enough that the first time it started happening, I just closed the game thinking “welp, this is something I’m going to have to troubleshoot tomorrow”.
But then when I opened the game the next day, the issue was gone, at least for a time.
But yeah it’s bad, we’re talking going from 150+fps down to 20-30. For me, it slowly ramps up and down over and over again.
It’s so intermittent that it can happen for the entirety of one match, but then not happen at all the next match.
EDIT: For context, I’m on PC and play through a wired connection, no wifi.
There are definitely strange things going on in this game from time to time.
I have a 265k+4070 ti super and I always stay at a locked 164 FPS with zero dips with the exception of an occasional strange freezes in matches. It’s very occasional(once every 40-50 matches at most), but I will completely lock up for no more than 5 seconds and then everything is fine. I have no issues like this with other games.
I also notice that compiling shaders in this game after GPU driver updates seem to tax my CPU more than any other game I have ever played. My CPU generally caps around 50-something degrees during all games and will go up to 60-70 when compiling shaders or decompressing downloads in other games, but Overwatch will spike at 100+ degrees for a minute while compiling shaders at launch. I have a decent AIO and I have an aggressive fan curve at higher temps, so this shouldn’t be happening.
This is all relatively recent. I had no freezing or CPU temp spikes a year ago.
