Game balance with new players is garbage

I don’t mind seeing actual new players, but Blizz, you need to spread them around a bit. When you have nothing but new accounts on one team against a team full of accounts totaling thousands of hours of gameplay the game is not good. The quality is not there.

Just…stop it.

It’s complete bull crap they don’t start new players in bronze. Tonight I had a game on my 2500 sr open queue account and on my team were two brand new players and the other team was 3 plats and 3 golds most with silver portraits. Needless to say we got curb stomped. A complete waste of my time.

You realise that some new players aren’t actually all that bad? Some people come from other games with really good aim, so they can easily dominate in ranks where people just don’t have good positioning, it’s virtually impossible to have good balancing with new players because there’s no full-proof way to measure their skill

Not to mention some of them could be experienced players on alt accounts which further complicates the problem

Make it easy for people to smurf aye

I don’t want them all in bronze, and I understand that some of them could be experienced players.

It’s just less likely to be a fair game when you have one team with 5 players under level 20 vs a team with 5 players above level 300 unless all 5 players under level 20 are smurfs.

Blizzard needs to work harder to balance lobbies.

Don’t know if they are new players.

Yeah day1 hitscans clicking on stuff and outvalueing your 300hrs with transferrable aim and acne. If anything, it really just shows how much of this game scales out of the gates with aim and not brain power.

I hear Overwatch players use these arguments all the time for why to start players in gold. That’s what they’ve been told so they just regurgitate it without really thinking about the logic. The fact is, most (or all?) other FPS start players at the bottom rank and have no major problems with it. In fact, I’d argue they have less complaints about smurfs and matchmaking from their players than overwatch does.

New players can be so deluded because of how the game coddles them, I saw a post yesterday from someone who was level 65, he said he was a 2700 player but had fallen to 1600 because of bad teams. He genuinely believed he would come in as a brand new player and place in the top 25% of players, beating thousands of players who have been grinding the game for years, and didn’t even consider that he would be the reason his teams were bad.

If the system placed new players at 1500 I don’t think most new players would be surprised or disappointed by that, and they would enjoy subsequent games a lot more.

You’re talking about something that would require Blizzard to make at least one good decision.

A little strong title.
But yeah MM is so bad sometimes.
