Sym 2.0 had like a 76% winrate and everyone agreed she was garbage and needed to be reworked because she was a throw pick except in very very specific circumstances.
Pickrate tells you what the meta is. Bap has a high pickrate because he’s strong, Rein has a high pickrate because he’s strong. People in competitive don’t play what’s fun - look at quickplay for that.
BUT if you’re really worried about winrate the most you should start some Nerf Symmetra (58.3% winrate) Torb (55.26% winrate) and Zen (52.91% winrate) threads because they have higher winrates overall.
Where are you getting these numbers from? Over the last 6 months in GM sym has the 9th highest WR. Torb is bottom 7 WR. This month in GM pharah has the highest by FAR. Last 6 months in GM pharah has the highest winrate. The ones who come close (rein zarya) have been nerfed.
Okay look at at the top 100 players. It’s basically 1 single person padding those stats. If YNZSA were to suddenly have a heart attack and die there would be 2 Pharah players and her stats would drop like a rock. Do you think Pharah would suddenly be balanced because her stats would be low once there’s not once specific outlier boosting everything?
Ok firstly thats not how it works. It’s obviously more than 1 player, her pickrate is in the mid 1s, That’s not just one player. One player is like, 0.01%, probably less, I’m not sure. But There are more GMs than you think.
Also, Have you ever stopped to think WHY he does so well? You can’t just hold all top 5 places including top 1 with an average hero. They need to be overtuned and unpopular. Exactly what pharah is. Plus you require a mercy pocket, which a lot of people do not have access to because they dont have mercy main friends (rip) therefore cannot get good at pharah.
Look at the top 100 players for me and counter the number of different people who play Pharah. It doesn’t even have to be their most played hero. Just in the top 5 even.
Because he’s good? If the character was good then multiple people would be doing it. And it doesn’t matter that he hold X number of top spots. If you play at a #1 level if you make another account you’re still playing at a #1 level and should have account that reflect that. If the best player in the world make 100 accounts and played them all he should hold the top 100 spots.
This happens in fighting games all the time. The top player isn’t the guy playing the strongest character all the time. Its a good player who plays a decent character that they are comfortable with. In Smash Bros Melee Armada was the strongest player for the longest time with… Peach. Now peach is good but there are 6 characters that are currently considered better than her. Armada was good and he played Peach. YZNSA is good and plays Pharah. They are outliers.
And there are good mcree, tracer, etc players who couldnt even dream of doing that. OWL players too. Pharahs too good.
Look, she’s probably going to be nerfed next patch. Don’t worry about it, it’ll probably be minor. I know you’re a pharah main, and nerfs sound scary (I felt the same with one of my main heroes), but it’ll hardly effect you. You’ll be fine
Hopefully they can actually power shift her to be more independent at the same time. I think that’d be nice for pharah players. Heck it might be a net buff for those pharah players who play without a mercy. Who knows?
Lol, I don’t care I play Pharah whenever even when she was a dumpster throw pick. And lol OWL players are busy practicing to play multiple accounts solo. Other people have lives. I can’t imagine the time to even queue for games on 5 different accounts. YZNSA gotta be spending most of his time playing overwatch.
I don’t think a hero that hardly sees use, isn’t meta, and isn’t part of any specific team comp needs a nerf. But neither you nor I get to have any amount of influence on these matters no matter how good the arguments are.
I think it’s just funny that there’s so many people who are upset at a hero that is statistically more likely to not be in your game and doesn’t have an unreasonable win rate in anything but GM is causing such a fuss. Also some of the arguments people make:
"OH she’s untouchable in the backline shooting rockets… but if you switch to widow she instantly teleports to you back line and dives Widow with her insane horizontal mobility.
Ah yes. The old “DPS are strong, nerf Mercy” sentiment. If you nerf supports, DPS will only get comparatively more powerful but yeah, let’s nerf Mercy, that’ll solve it for sure.
ah yes the usual entitled support main opinion. “dps and support strong , lets just nerf dps” its almost like thats what they did ALL THE YEARS right? when ashe got nerfed they even explicitly stated that they only nerfed her cuz the synergy between mercy ashe was too strong
if you nerf DPS the supports will only get comparatively more powerful but yeah, let’s nerf Pharah, that’ll solve it for sure. /s
widow, Ash, Torb, Mei(right click) McCree, S76, creative Junk shots, Ana, Baps, Zen, Orisa, etc. are all counters to Echo/Pharah. Maybe pick a diff hero and don’t let your team get rolled next time.
Just like people cry over the top pickrate always no matter what it is.
Like people cry over hitscans for no reason at all, no matter how many hitscans are mid or trash tier, If one or 2 are on top, “hitscans must be nerfed”.
i’ve always hated pharah and echo (echo mostly) but now that these characters out shine most hit scan dps it’s hard to ignore… the point is balance and at the moment people think echo and pharah are stronger than they are supposed to be and want to maintain “balance”
I don’t know if I agree with that. Blizzard nerfed double shields without realizing that two shields will always be a good idea, and that we need more shield COUNTERS and not to break down two tanks to where they have to be played together now.
They’re going to remove a whole tank because they couldn’t figure out, hey, we have characters that counter shields already AND those same characters are the ones people want to see buffed. Maybe we should…buff them?
