From the Overwatch Cookbook: Soldier 76's Tater Tot Hotdish

Prep Time: 15 Minutes Yield: 4-6 Servings Dietary: Gluten-Free
Bake Time: 35 Minutes
2 Tablespoons/ 14.78ml Olive Oil
2 cloves garlic, Minced
1.5lbs/ 680g ground beef
1/4 cup/60 ml dark brown sugar
2 Tablespoons/ 29.5 ml tomato paste
1 Tablespoon/ 14.75 ml Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon/ 2.5 ml dried savory
1 cup/ 240 mixed frozen vegetables
Salt and Pepper, to taste
1.5 cups/ 360 ml shredded cheddar cheese
1 32oz/ 907g bag of frozen tater tots

  1. Preheat the oven to 425F/ 218C and set out an 8x11/ 20x28cm casserole dish.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Cook the garlic for several minutes, until golden brown and fragrant. Add the ground beef to the pan and cook another few minutes, breaking up, until completely brown. Stir in the brown sugar, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, savory, and the vegetables. Stir to combine completely, then add salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and transfer the mixture to the readied casserole dish.
  3. Top the meat mixture evenly with the shredded cheese, and then carefully lay out the frozen tater tots on top in even rows. Move to the oven and bake for 30 minutes or until tater tots are crispy. To make the top extra crispy, you can pop the dish under the broiler for another few minutes, but keep a close eye on it to make sure it doesn’t burn. Serve hot with ketchup or other condiments of your choice. (Soy sauce is really good)

Per Google:

‘A member of the mint family, savory is a small, green plant that is used to add flavor to food. This aromatic herb has two main varietals used in cooking: winter savory and summer savory. Both are native to the sunny slopes of the Mediterranean region.’

…I cook a lot.

Interesting. I also cook a lot and this is the first time I’ve seen that herb. TIL.

Same here, never cooked with it either. I’m more into desserts.

its probably mixed in a lot of spice blends you may use

It’s likely something different that you use. I’ve also never heard of that one. But sure enough, it’s a thing :woman_shrugging:t2:

The cookbook has some really good dishes - the Carne Adovada is my favourite.

Dang it, should have picked it up while I got the chance

I actually made this a few weeks ago! It was pretty good. I used an herb mix instead of savory because I couldn’t find it ANYWHERE.

I made Reaper’s queso dip and it was pretty whelming.

Lucio’s limonada drink is outstanding and everyone should make it.
