FPS drops only when I am playing

So I havent played (or even loaded up my PC) in a couple of months due to life stuff. Yesterday I loaded up all my usual games (and a few new ones) and had a couple of hours playing them (Warframe, SC2, Doom, Ark) and had no issues.

I loaded up Overwatch and I’m getting MAJOR frame drops, but only when I’m actually playing. As soon as I die, killcam and game cam goes to over 100fps (which is my regular fps). As soon as I respawn to play again, my FPS drops to sub 30.

Does anyone have any ideas?

These standard tips can help resolve most Overwatch FPS drops:

  • Reset Overwatch’s Video Settings
  • Update your graphic card driver.
  • Reset your graphic card driver settings., then make sure that your Graphic Card Driver control panel is configured correctly for Overwatch. This includes setting Overwatch at Maximum Performance (not optimal power) for Power Management and making sure it set to run on the graphics card and not the motherboard chipset.
  • In drastic cases you may need to reinstall the driver and update to the most recent driver for your card. Remember to use Display Driver Uninstaller to completely clean out your old driver. Then download the most recent NVidia or AMD for your system.
  • If you use Razer Chroma peripherals, outdated version of Razer Synapse and the Razer Chroma SDK will cause FPS drops or crashes. If you have Razer Synapse on your system, try updating to Razer Synapse 3 - Cloud-Based Hardware Configuration Tool | Razer United States. This should update the Razer Chroma SDK.
  • There have been other threads reporting that updating your system BIOS can help with some performance issues with recent patches. Please be careful if you choose to update your BIOS and look up your motherboard’s instructions on how to do this.
