Forced 2-2-2 is a HUGE MISTAKE

When it comes to the moba/lol comparison I just feel like

a) you have a lot more heroes to chose from within those roles
b) roles are not as narrowly defined, at the end of the day it’s more of a starting position than a comp.
c) your rank is not split in to 5 different categories.
d) player base is just a lot bigger.

I like the 2-2-2 setup + open Q, but the biggest mistake was how the flex passes were implemented.

Role Queue was a mistake*

No, it was not. It was a good solution to the chaotic mess that is Open Queue.

Now going from 6v6 to 5v5, that was a mistake.

It was… no one asked for it, we asked for role lock, no more than 2dps, 2 tanks and 2heals, the first to pick it, plays it.

B But I get tanks and heals in every match with RQ, derp.

Passes were implemented that way because of RQ. Which is worse, priority passes, or 30+ min DPS queues? You see, everyone wants a tank and support, but very few want to play them. That is the root issue and RQ did nothing to help this, only to give selfish players the illusion of a balanced team-composition. That’s it.

Yeah. I would have changed it so that only wins grant flex passes and like 4-5. Now there are DPS players who don’t care if they win or lose playing tanks and supps.

I dont know anybody who asked for this as people understood it would punish anyone with a slow pc plus it would create more toxicity

Well, you’d be right if you weren’t so wrong.

Literally no one thought about role queue back that days (as far i can remember), only the devs that brought it up from their imaginary kingdom where everything works as expected.

If you have a slow PC, sorry mate, the system requirements are meant to prevent those problems, just read it, and also… consoles…

You can actually find several posts asking for a system or just talking about it in general that is like role queue though not forced versions, meanwhile I havent seen one from the same time period (before June 29th 2018) which ask for a role lock, only complaints about the lfg role lock.

your pc can meet the minimum requirements and still be slow. Role lock will still punish those with the slowest PC on the team, you might also get forced into your worst role. And again, toxicity would increase “Give me DPS or i’ll throw”, “give me DPS, i’m better than you”, this will then become more chaotic once you switch sides.

There is plenty here, pick your poison…

Ppl need to accept that there is no perfect scenario, ppl will throw in role queue, role lock or free pick.

And also, role queue favors ppl who mains in a role and throws in another.

But i got it, i think i put this matter in a stupid way, my fault, my problem is specifically with the different SR-MMRs that role queue provides.

all of those are complaining about the LFG role lock, none of these are suggesting the same system you are suggesting. Most of them are complaining about not having a much of a choice when they got into a match with a group that used role lock.

So what do you not like about it? I like the different SR/MMR for all roles because mine are vastly different for each role, them being merged again would pretty much force me into my best role unless I want to soft-throw by playing a role that wouldnt be on the same level as the match is.

I don’t disagree. But games like MOBAs also have alternate objectives. I don’t play them, but I understand that grinding out gold by killing creep, attacking special map objectives, and destroying static defenses are also important. Also, the gold plays into the item shop that helps determine your end game build. Overwatch misses all that nuance by effectively being team deathmatch + a cart…or + a conttrol point. There are no other objectives beyond kill the enemy really. Even CS go actually has the bomb to mix things up.
