I think people word complains terribly. From what I’ve gathered, most people just have a problem with her requiring significantly less skill to go toe-to-toe with anyone else, not that she’s meta.
I also think that “bad design” doesn’t inherently mean that they’re going to be OP or meta. Mei, Doomfist, even Bastion IMO, are bad hero designs…but they’re all pretty underwhelming.
Moira falls under that category for the most part to me. She’s just a bad design, it’s very hard to tell a bad Moira player from a good Moira player because her kit is so easy…and that translates to a horrible value ceiling when she is mastered. Can’t have someone who takes 20% of the effort that Ana or Lucio have to put forth and have her compete with them.
In that regard, I’ve found that most complaints are sort of revolving around that - her skill floor is low, and most acknowledge her skill ceiling is also low. People don’t enjoy a hero being called a “skillcheck hero” when they require incredibly little themselves (and not just mechanical aim, either…I think most people are starting to acknowledge that her kit is a problem in its entirety).
Please, a lot of people say “if you can’t kill Moira in 4s you are bad at aiming” or something along those lines.
They don’t need to “express a desire to kill Moira on an aim hero” to be a hypocrite they only need to play a no aim hero (Moira) while mocking others of having bad aim.
“You’re bad at aiming” =/= “People who are bad at aiming suck at the game.” They have to hold that aim is some kind of determinant of whether a person is good or bad at the game in order for it to be hypocrisy. Otherwise it’s just stating a fact in a rude way, that is easy for them to say.
“Easy for you to say, you don’t have to deal with it.” Is not the same as hypocrisy.
Hypocrisy is when your beliefs don’t align with your actions.
I was honestly taking you serious until this part:
You lost me there. Why? I have climbed my way up to GM/Top500 as healer. And maybe I am biased because of that? But once you see how people like Jardio play Moira compared to the average Diamond/Masters player… It is hard for me to believe you are being serious here.
I would like to keep arguing with you, however, I think you tend to use opinions as facts. For instance, I don’t think Mei, DF are underwhelming as you say. At least they are not in high ranks… However, that is only my opinion based on what I have seen.
I don’t know If Ana and Lucio are even comparable. Lucio got “auto-wall riding” and people think he is harder to play than before… Ok. Lol
Most of what you have said are opinions tbh.
Data gathered from multiple players during extended period of times show that Moira was never comparable to Ana, Lucio and even Zen for quite some time (in a pickrate perspective) until double shield meta, even though, she “requires less skill to go toe with anyone else” according to you.
I have yet to see a good Mcree, Ashe, Hanzo, Widow, Mei, Reaper, Soldier, Tracer, etc., lose consistently a 1 V 1 to a Moira considering that both characters have all their abilities at disposal and nobody else will interfere during the battle.
I guess we can just agree to disagree since it appears, that we both have had completely different experiences with this character.
PS: You never even addressed the Hanzo problem, and I don’t see multiple posts of how broken he is. The double standards of this community I guess.
Well. We’ll obviously have agree to disagree because I think more along the dictionary definition rather than how annoying it is that they don’t have to take their own advice.
I never stated anything was a fact. I specified and worded it so it’s opinion-based…I’m not sure where that wasn’t clear.
(literally wrote “in my opinion” there)
When it comes to topics like this, it’s rarely factual outside of statistics. And I didn’t state anything to imply it was anything but subjective. I’m not going to try to objectify a subjective topic lol
You do realize that because of how big Moira’s beam hitbox is that your video actually demonstrates that I’m right. The beam hitbox intersects with the robot arm.
Yes, Biotic Grasp fits this description exactly. I wouldn’t call either of them a lock-on, because the definition of lock-on is that confirming the lock-on has different conditions than breaking the lock-on. Neither Tactical Visor nor Biotic Grasp is a lock-on, but they do both behave as you’ve said, attacking whoever’s closest to your reticle within a large radius. The only difference is that Tac Visor’s radius is a bit larger. Glad we can confirm they’re both auto-aim, and not beams.
Yes, I do realize that some people try to change the definition of an Aimlock by using a questionable technical explanation.
Which also doesn’t make much sense from my point of view.
Ask the developers, I’m almost certain that Hero’s models have lock-on points.
What’s so wrong about being easy to play? Frankly, with how easy and how unique her gameplay is compared to the other supports, she is easily the most fun support to play.
The heroes that actually employ a form of lock on mechanism like Mercy, Zarya bubble, and Zen orb there is an actual setting for it in the menu to give the player more or less control over target selection.
Yes, which is why she has 0 utility and just her raw output, making her a decent group healer but ultimately your team would benefit more from an Ana, a Zenny or so. But those are also not as easy to play.
It’s… balanced?
I mean to be fair she provides a utility to the team by her presence: She deters squishy flanker heroes. But that just means the Genji and Tracer swap to Doomfist and Echo and keep destroying you.
I’ve tested the beam, its definitely a soft lock, you can literally be 3 feet out of the crosshair or completely out of her LoS in the first place and still take damage to it, they could remove the resource meter if they made it so that if you sprayed too much it had an overheat mechanic
