Theres no problem that they cant fix, its just that they take eons to get around to balance issues so bans are a better band aid fix . I’d love a world where the balance team actually reworked problematic heroes in a timely and effective manner but we aren’t in that world sadly. Band aid fixes are better than no fixes at all and it’s all we can ask for because I’m not gonna ask the balance team to work faster because we both know for sure that aint happening.

Sombra is the current hero that the playerbase hates

the current hero? brother shes been hated at every point in the past regardless of rework, is hated currently and will continue to be hated if nothing is done about her. Again, you can make this argument and it will be valid for any other hero but sombra is the character that has been nigh universally hated since her release.

There is no difference between hating on Sombra because they can’t bother to improve to counter her, vs. hating on Widow/Genji/Tracer for the same reason.

I will reiterate. Sombra is counterable, and people know her counterplay. Thats precisely why shes an underperforming character? She underperforms in every single rank, even the ranks where shes banned. I said it before but you didnt understand so ill say it again

I see no fun in swapping off projectile heroes to deal with pharah, but i will if needs be and we will win because of it. Knowing how to, and being adept at countering something doesnt make it any more fun to counter it LOL.

I can and will counter a pharah if i need to but id have more fun if i were playing my main. does that make sense?

people in metal ranks play for fun more than anything else. Sombra is widely considered unfun so why wouldn’t they ban her there?

Not in my experience. I didn’t hear people complaining about her this much in OG OW.

Go across any media, you will always see sombra being hated on throughout her tenure in overwatch. You just hear it a little more now because shes played more in lower elos now compared to the past.

Additionally, bans have essentially forced her out of metal ranks so of course shes going to be a talking point now.

No ? If you’re really trying to sit here and say that MR and OW follow the same hero design and balance philosophy, idk. You really have to go and study both games. Every MR hero is essentially on the same power level as release brigitte and OG roadhog. And they let it be that way.

Again, i agree here. But you seem to have the idea that sombra is only hated now… She has always been widely hated, if you’d like, i could link you to different sources of media/surveys people havedone that have shown sombra as THE or one of the most hated characters. I remmeber Snowman uploading a video a yter made surveying peoples most hated characters, and who were the highest?

widow and sombra of course, no surprise there.

Youtuber does survey on most disliked heroes

The survey was a bit simple since he wanted it to be something you could fill out in 1-2 minutes. It asks your rank range (Bronze-gold, plat-masters, GM+), your favorite role, and to for each role to select your two most disliked heroes to play against from a list of 5 that are often considered annoying, so if a hero isn’t talked about here it means they literally weren’t on the survey. I think the survey could’ve been designed better, like gold should probably be with the mid ranks and masters…

It was coach spilo that conducted the survey and it showed sombra being the 2nd most hated after widow even by Grandmaster and Champion players.
