Resetting the ladder is the only way you give people peace of mind that all ranks are treated fairly and equally, and some semblance of ladder integrity is being attempted.
Starting completely fresh, its only 10 games to lockdown your tier, and 20 more after to converge to within 200sr, the normal level of flux. Don’t believe the elo/trueskill post that Kawumbaa floats around (claims 150 matches). You would have at most 4-5 weird-feeling, so-called ‘disrupted’ matches, a far cry from the every 2nd or 3rd match being ruined as is standard on live.
Also a reset where you grind from the ground up, would solve several issues. Thats up for debate but the idea is sound and worth a look.
Nah, every tinfoil dude has been shot down on these forums that it would just make utter chaos and no1 would enjoy it. Well you know what? It accidentally happened when they launched role Q (thats why it got delayed) so they had to pull it back. I can some how understand why imbeciles wants MMR reset before it was shown what would happen (what anyone with half a brain would understand that would happen). And still we have these brainlets who wants MMR reset
You know what’s funny, a reset would pretty quickly prove the whole “you’ll get to the rank you should be” people right but some people like you think it’s a bad idea even though they think the former is true. Good players would rise pretty quick, lesser players would fall pretty quick, no?

What exactly are you afraid of? Being beasted on by a sudden influx of low sr tryhards who suddenly taste a chance to actually rank up and matter?
What are you protecting? A boosting business? Some kind of streamer ego? A bois club or inner circle of the same cool kids gatekeeping the upper ranks?
Your own hard work? Isn’t it time others have a crack at being above the clouds?
Avoiding ‘bads’ in your matches? You have those already and would have fewer post-reset.
That was not a full and/or proper ladder reset. That was a ‘loose placement’ issue. Lots of people did not place any different, some did. But the streaming community got people to freak out. It was probably the canary in the coal mine for people that they’re not in the right ranks, the current system is borked, and/or many thinking they’re X rank, would struggle ranking up in a system that really just protects current rank.
A real reset done right disrupts something like 5 matches per individual, a small price to pay for ensuring fair ladder integrity for all.
Please leave the conversations about mmr/sr to the ones who can actually do math, and stop echo chambering false conclusions. When you’re ready to talk about sorting/binning/ranking algorithms - i.e. having a brain as you put it - then we can talk. Until then, you’re free to sit down for class.
Of course it is: I sit at 600 SR and it is my skill. I would be obliterated in, say, 2k, 1,5k or if even higher, I probably would not make it out of spawn. So, of course SR reflects skill.

Simple. Buy a boost. Drop down, rage and quit the game. What do you even look above the clouds? Some glory or such? There is no such and if you dont climb there your self then there isnt even the feel of accomplishment.
Yes there is people who buys boosts and it shows. They drop down and never come back (or maybe they keep playing in their lower ranks). The same way people dont want a GM to throw and smurf in bronze, but it is because of you brainelts they do it. That is true. And easy to way for anyone without buying boost or anything is to find a team and join a tournament. Or have a brain, but that is not common here. I played recently in a tournament open for all ranks, no limitations. When we faced a team 1k lower, they sat in their base all game. When we faced a team 1k higher, we sat in base all game. Thats just how it works. (and this is also why they usually have limitations, but it was a community tournament and they didnt want to leave anyone out, its just waste of time having people get destroyed when everyone knows whats gonna happen when a GM team goes vs diamond team or a diamond team goes vs gold team, there is no need to play those games)

Please, please, if you are into OW and serious about improving, subscribe (and like) IOStux’ videos on Youtube; I guarantee you will improve - you might not become the top tier, but you will improve.
I think frankly they need to just do away with “tiers” anyhow, the whole Bronze-silver-gold-etc I think creates more toxicity than it’s worth. Maybe maintain Masters/GM, but that’s it, or maybe just top 500.
