There are far way too many ults out there that are consistent team wipers. I’m talking about ults like Rip Tire, Death Blossom, Dragoblade, Grav Combos.
If not this you could spam ults like crazy and win a match. (BEFORE YOU SAY THIS IS NOT A VIABLE STRAT IN GM SHUT UP ITS A VIABLE STRAT IN GOLD AND PLAT). It was a fair strategy when this game was designed to be a casual shooter.
Blizzard was fully aware of how dumb this was and designed Mercy and the game around Huge Rez.
Fast forward to a year and a couple of months later, and DPS Mains start to cry since their team wipes were negated constantly by Mercy since killing Mercy was not a priority.
Now fast forward to today and team wipes happen to often and spamming ults is a viable strat.
We need a heroine, an angel, we need Mercy to return.
Irony of it, she got reworked because she was unfun to play against. Now she’s ‘not as fun to play as’ it’s apparently not worthy of a rework again and is better to ‘ignore’ (silence) discussions into the megathread as if that is implying the rework was a complete success when it was a bit of a failure from day one.
It’s true. We have how many team wipe ultimates in the game? Now how many defensive ultimates do we have in the game? I like playing the game not sitting in the spawn room 24/7 because of how many times my team gets ult wiped.
So you’re saying that teamwork ult combos need to be countered by a single ult which could only consistently counter it through the hide and Rez strat, which the devs are against
So mercy has to hide, waiting for her team to be wiped? No thanks.
And every ult that can wipe a team has a counterplay. You can shoot RipTire, you can shield Death Blossom or CC Reaper, etc. Mercy ult had no counter play once activated, you had to kill everybody again.
A) Not everyone, and many have given up posting feedback and just chosen to accept that there’s not going to be any further changes to Mercy, even if it’s QoL or a bug fix apparently.
B) Can’t really go by news articles, news can be biased and not always objective.
If everyone apparently finds her fun then you have to wonder why Mercy discussion is still forbidden on the forum .
If it was actually being read every so often, and some bits and pieces of the feedback were being discussed every so often, I would agree. Sadly the thread isn’t currently being used for that purpose though.
A) OK, but just saying that she isn’t fun as a blanket statement is incorrect when it is subjective. And a bunch of people who think that she is fine don’t say anything because they have nothing to complain about
B) Reddit. Which just so happens to be bigger than the forums…
Sadly I think it’s a case of bias. Many players (I guess DPS players), not all though, just want Mercy in a place where she’s reliant a lot on her team and can’t do much to turn the tide of the battle herself. Pretty much heal and damage boost while having high mobility. Moira was a target until the nerf hammer failed to arrive, so now Brigitte is a target at the moment.
Even though her ultimate is currently in a somewhat braindead state and unable to potentially make a big game-changing play like most other heroes can, she won’t get any support from most of the players who are against Mercy being adjusted in any manner. This includes other aspects I imagine, such as her ‘on fire’ being busted at the moment. Her current ultimate can’t even remotely outheal small burst damage on a teammate. It’s more a selfish type of ultimate which can be used to retreat faster if needed.
Nobody said they wanted instant Mass Resurrect back. Stop putting words into people’s mouths. I’d be open to a cast time to Resurrect so it was counterable. If I’m opening myself to being vulnerable in a 1 second cast time LOS check and barriers will block Resurrect targets off, I’d want an E ability to help with my survivability.
I never said it had to be instant (it would if you want it to be viable). It doesn’t change the fact that it can only consistently counter grav combos if the hide an a Rez strategy is used, which was the reason she was reworked.
