[Feedback Thread Continued] Mercy Updates - Jan 30, 2018

Mercy was being picked in over 90% of matches at the Pro level. A character that is, like it or not, low skill.

If that doesn’t scream SOMETHING IS WRONG HERE to you, then you are out of touch.

Now, I do think her ult should allow her the Instarez, but only the 1 use.

The duration wasn’t what was wrong.

Resurrection was, and it was addressed.

Well, good luck finding healers then. She does not feel good to play, and that will result in people either switching from support entirely or leaving the game altogether (I’ve basically done that). I can live without rez as an ult, but I can not continue playing her with an ult I don’t have fun with or feel has an impact at all.

Funny you should say that. Because I for one, as a Flex player am now MORE willing to play support because I don’t get forced into playing Mercy each and every time. All supports are now very viable (not necessarily optimal).

It’s only countered by McCree and Soldier’s Ultimates. That’s about it.

Zen’s defensive Ult, Transcendance is also not effective against burst damage.

And Orisa can continue to shoot and put down shields while her Ult is active

You’re clearly using her ult wrong if that’s what you’re going for. It’s not a flat “this one heals more as a whole so it’s better”.

Mercy’s Ultimate is going to sustain and buff your entire team for the entire duration of a team fight. With Damage OR Healing, whichever is needed at the time.

Zen’s Ult is a failsafe against enemy Ults.

Of course she can, she’s a tank. Mercy can shoot, it just doesn’t make as much sense for her to do so. Orisa’s supercharger is incredibly easy to take out for any knowledgable opposing team. Mercy is a much much more difficult target to take out due to her elevation, mobility, and regeneration.

I think what he’s getting at is that, while people compare it to Orisa’s Supercharger, it also benefits Orisa herself. Mercy just… puts her up on the shelf, out of reach from the short Cyber Ninjas and Angry Aussies. (But not too far for the Angry Dads and Cowboys!)

You know what I meant, it heals 20% of the per second healing of transcendence, which makes it much less useful. You gonna try to tell me that 500 seconds of 10 heals per second would be more useful than valk, because it’s higher in total heals?

She can NOT Shoot while laying down the 30% damage buff, which was what the entire post was about. You can decide to shoot INSTEAD of buffing or healing. That’s a different matter entirely.

Also, if they shoot down Orisa’s supercharger it means the ult ends. If they shoot down Mercy it means ALL HEALING ENDS until Mercy has run back from spawn.

Except that’s an extremely unrealistic number, you know how hard it is to 2v1 someone who’s being healed by their Mercy? Quite hard. In Valkyrie and the right coordination all of their team gets that benefit.

2 pharah direct hits will instantly take out a 200hp hero being pocketed by mercy. If you have trouble in a 2v1 against 60hps, your heroes are far from ideal or your aim isn’t great.

One Widowmaker headshot and they’re dead amirite? You can’t use situations like perfect accuracy as the common occurence.

And that’s reasonable, imo. High burst damage or a teammate that’s being focused can be countered a little better with a skillful Ana, or by adding a Lucio to peel.

But for sustained damage, like an enemy team with Soldier, Tracer, or a few tanks, Valk mitigates almost all their damage for 15 seconds, which gives you plenty opportunity to push.

The difference is that sniper headshots are always a kill, whereas transcendence healing could prevent a kill from pharah direct hits (and, more importantly, ults that do more dps than that, even).

But a Transcendence doesn’t last anywhere near as long. 6 seconds compared to 15.

15 seconds of underwhelming heals, yes. It’s not awful, but it’s pretty weak for an ult. It will save you from a tracer with subpar aim or something similar, but nothing that does more damage than a winston.

Transcendence counters pretty much all the ultimates it needs to counter.

All burst damage ultimates last 6 seconds or less. Valkyrie lasts 15 seconds, but doesn’t counter any of them and certainly won’t save a team against something like Rocket Barrage

Underwhelming? So you’re saying Mercy’s healing outside of her ultimate is underwhelming? It doesn’t change at all. It’s the same 60 hps, claiming that in Ultimate it’s suddenly awful doesn’t make any sense.
