Extreme rubberbanding / latency spikes since updating to S17

Since updating to S17, I’ve been experiencing extreme rubberbanding and latency spikes (?) frequently in-game. My character will teleport everywhere, constantly looking like I’m doing abilities. This has never happened before until this season. Internet working like normal.

Attached is a short clip (8s long) of the issue: https://youtu.be/kuD2xWKkx4g

Im getting lag spikes from 60 to 70 every few seconds, not as horrible as your video but damn, it’s annoying as well

The clip shows the packet loss symbol, which can occur anywhere between your home and the server. Unfortunately, packet-tracking tools aren’t something that Blizzard’s Customer Support can assist with these days. However, your ISP might be able to walk you through using them.

Mines have been from 60 to 1000+ in seconds, then everyone starts autorunning and it stays like that forever, im forced to quit, only to discover the rejoining loading screen also gets 1000+ latency and im forced to quit multiple times until its fixed and surprise, surprise, 30 min ban

I’m also having high latency. Overwatch has always been around 20-30 ms for me, and since the start of this season it randomly shoot up to over 200 and stays that way for a while and then randomly go back down to normal.

Currently it feels unplayable to me.

I’m having issues like this too. Whenever I end up around other players my latency goes up to like 300+. It’s not my internet because other games are fine. It’s not my drivers either, all should be updated. This is only an issue that I’ve been seeing since s17 as well.

I’m also having issues. Though I have an old gen console. Before this season it worked perfectly fine. Now I can’t even play one game of Overwatch anymore. Fortnite works fine tho

I’m having the exact same problem I randomly rubber band and experience lags spikes so bad my screen will literally freeze mid game for a few seconds before coming back just to lag again at first I assumed it was something on my end I updated my drivers, tried closing my other open apps but even then its still horrible? I even stopped playing for a few weeks because I thought the problem was me but I just got on and everything was completely fine then the lagging started again I decided to check my task manager and for some reason blizzard itself was the reason. I never had lag problems like this before season 17 I was ranking up in comp like crazy now this lag has been the reason I’m de-ranking

I get it a lot too. Blizz and CS will blame you, even if it is not your fault at all. You have two options:

  1. Don’t play for a while and try later to see if the servers are stable again.
  2. Annoy CS about it, although they will again blame you. See option 1.
