So is widows but she isnt near the bad spot Sombra is. People just not knowing how to play her is a meme by now.
I can’t bring myself to play Rein, his Charge feels like a roll of the dice many times. His ult, too. It’s vexing.
Sombra is the only hero that’s undeniably garbage tier that for some reason people still treat like she’s on the cusp of being the most OP character ever. People made the same claims about reaper when he got his wraithform buff. But nope, Reaper never left trash tier.
It’s incredibly disappointing. I honestly get sad playing Reinhardt right now.
Except she wasn’t? Before the nerf her numbers were still well below most heroes, Jeff said her win rate wasn’t out of line and the Pro Contenders scene proved she wasn’t broken at high competitive either.
Argue that hacking is unfun or whatever but this “Sombra was S-tire” is just not true. There is nothing to back up that claim.
Top tier Sombra players are even having major problems getting use out of her. Her skill ceiling is not the core of her problems.
It does matter how she performed. You’re straight up lying by pretending she was somehow going to be S tier.
There’s no point changing your story now, because her being able to do those things clearly wasn’t actually a problem at all. They could have simply legitimised what she was doing by reducing the cast time by a further 0.1s to compensate for the loss of the leeway removal and she would have still not been overpowered.
nah, not even close to what i’m thinking
All I’m saying is that a hero shouldn’t be strong due to an inherently unhealthy mechanic. She wasn’t S-tier during her buff but it certainly wasn’t fine for a hero to be able to hack behind shields and walls to be powerful. They can adjust hack to be similarly powerful but without that mechanic as part of her kit.
Make hack’s aiming more lenient, reintroduce a .05 window, extend the range of hack slightly, or something. I want Sombra to be strong but I don’t want her to be strong for the wrong reasons like she was before.
But but the forums said the Sombra nerf/fix would only affect the bad Sombras. Are Fitzy and Danteh overrated Sombras?
OWL never got the Sombra patch. They started using her in preparation for a new era that never came because she wasn’t allowed to live. Brigitte, on the other hand, gets to display her ridiculousness live in front of 100k+ viewers every other day. The skill gap between using Brigitte and Sombra also plays a strong factor here.
Random guys in Bronze aren’t just going to pick her up one day and win. Even the pros would have needed more time than two weeks to get comfortable with her. Using that short time frame of statistics to measure her brokenness is disingenuous and misleading. You can see the tools the character has, put her in the hands of an experienced individual who already knows how to use those tools, and realize how strong she would have been if she remained the same.
If that was the case, she’d have picked up over that time as Hanzo and Mercy did, not collapse from day 2.
Sombra needs to be completely reworked and I mean from the ground up. That is if your goal is to make her viable on lower elo and not be a 3000 SR+ pick like she is right now.
She is a deadly combination of high skill floor and high reliance on teammates to get value out of her. Good luck with that in sub 2000.
At least widow right now has the benefit of her counters being out of meta so if you can get some decent aim on her you will get value even in the dregs.
Take out a mercy that is out of position and you pretty much bring more value than any fantastic emp in sub 2000 games. If GM players can pounce properly on an emp with near 100 percent consistency what makes you thinkyou will get it in say plat.
The pros, gms, and overwatch pissed their pants and forced on a nerf that effectively gutted her.
However, he specifically said in the current meta, double sniper too stronk and I think that problem ought to be fixed sooner.
Look at soldier for example, you can’t tell me that Soldier needs a buff, yet his pick rate is actually below Mei, Reaper and Symmetra in GM. Something is wrong here, and it’s not Sombra first and foremost.
That being said, I do not mind tweaks here and there and especially all them bugfixes !
There are times where it can be used aggressively, but it’s very easy to kill a sombra who’s just used her translocator to get into a fight.
I can reliably carry my way into plat with sombra only, (I haven’t got particularly good aim or anything) even with troll pick teams, but plat is probably the hardest rank to get a team that will work together, IMO, and its the point where people end up in a limbo; many people who are pretty skilled get trapped there and so your point stands in that rank, in my eyes.
your points overall I agree with, sadly.
I never claimed she went live in OWL so I’m not sure where you’re coming from…
You know the difference here? At least we got the numbers. You can mock them all you want but we got numbers vs your “hypothetical”. One is based on reality and one is based on your predictions and speculations.
Also it’s not like she got a complete make over, her kit was largely the same so “the pro’s needs time to get used to her” yeah. No. It was the same hero she’s always been. Just slightly better.
Ok but why the double standard. How on EARTH did mercy 2.0 make it the pros with 2 rezes? If you want to say sombra was broken with .65 without the 2 second cooldown on failed attacks fine. but how on GODS GREEN EARTH did mercy make it 6 months as pretty much the most broken hero the game ever saw? Anyone with half a brain would realize that mercy 2.0 original state was laughably OP
I never claimed he said “Nobody should ever play Sombra ever again”. I even added an “atm” there at the end to indicate that…
Ugh, the worst part is I agree with your sentiment, the character blatantly needs reworked. But I love her the way she is. This is definitely how the Symmetra mains felt when they learned their character was going to get deleted.
No need to be so defensive about it, friend
I’m just pointing out that this might not be a good argument for an immediate (and perhaps major) Sombra buff.
