You aren’t as good as you think, and you contribute zero when dead.
…and this is why you’ll never improve.

Unless you are Rank 1, playing in the Saudi eLeague right now… I doubt this is true.
What kind of rank are you currently, because there will come a time where you cant rank up anymore and just hit your limit. After that you need some serious coaching to get better and then at the top, you are gate kept my your reaction times and things you need to keep track off. Its no shame in saying “I am at my limit”. Everyone could reach Diamond or Masters, but above that… I would say that most people are not fit to play in GM or top 500. Its just a natural thing for high ranks.
This is not a point system and dependent on the skill average of the game.
or your hero pool is less effective in the current meta, or you got boosted in the previous season.
sometimes people derank when their main heroes become less powerful in a given meta because they arnt good enough yet to play them in a non favored meta.
None of what you just said disproves my point.
If ONE person is doing god awful in that game, there is no covering for a 4v5. I’m sorry but this is how it has always been.
I don’t buy the x hero is weaker excuse until people are pretty much at the very top of the ladder. For the vast majority it’s about poor fundamentals with hero power being a negligible factor in why they can’t climb.
id say it depends on the hero and the amount of tilt.
if you play a hero when its HARD meta then that hero falls out, your obviously going to derank eventually.
someone thats truely good on a hero will climb regardless of meta, but if someone only climbed because that hero was broken that season…they can be a lil boosted.
not sayin that happened here but its the only thing i can think of off rip that would make someone suddenly worse and derank consistently.
tilt is usually not so consistent.
Hey I finally won a game. Our Healers were good and our Tank was good. We had an even matchup between Supports and Tanks, both sides were good. So finally my DPS being so much better was able to carry.
I don’t really agree on the hero part. Solid fundamentals are why some can consistently reach masters/gm and you don’t need to be particularly good on the hero as long as you have passable mechanics and the main aspects of play such as positioning, movement, ulting, pushing/falling back etc down. Yes, you can also brute force your way up the ladder with mechanics/specific hero expertise.
Tilt I do agree on and it’s why I always say good mental is the single most important thing when it comes to climbing.
It’s not that common for heroes to be so busted that players are significantly boosted by them. As in multiple ranks. There have been a number of examples even as recently as OW2 though. I will agree that if you only play hard meta you’re probably somewhat boosted though but it’s not that significant.
well your thinking of long term earned skill.
we have seen heroes boosting ppl into ranks they dont belong in before we both know thats something, that has happened in years past. (LOOKING AT YOU BRIG)
ye im not sayin its a for sure thing just a possibility.
i hit masters on genji way back during dive, but i couldnt carry with genji in a plat lobby today if you payed me.
thats why i defaulted to playing hitscans because that rank felt more ‘earned’ then the genji rank did. (and because i didnt suck with them after dive died)
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
i also said its possible they just got boosted by an rng win streak and deranked as they played more
in my mind if you belong in a rank, you’ll not only reach it but you’ll hold it. so if you drastically derank something had to of changed to make you no longer belong there.
tilt can cause this short term, but long term its usually some form of boosting.
I’ve literally won Diamond Comp games, as Tank, with completely missing DPS or, lol, I remember one time this season actually, we had one of the win trading bots on our team that was purposely supposed to lose. And we still won.
There’s your answer.
Diamond is literally the top 10% of the game.
I could play as my big toe and win a game in diamond.
Diamond being the top 10% means nothing.
I’ve lost games in GM simply from having an MIA DPS. It’s how the game functions.
You could also just as easily lose in Diamond. Unfortunately for you, your teammates can lose you the game because winning in OW is unfortunately a team effort.
For example, this entire post.
Dude, I’m new to PC and I’ve been climbing. Diamond 1 with 60% winrate.
You can climb if you’re good enough.
Gratz on your RNG. You must be taking mine.
It’s not rng, you’re just bad<3
Based on your Overbuff stats it seems like you favor the hitscan DPS. These can make phenomenal waves, but they aren’t very team oriented characters I’d say. They are built not really around raw utility, but simply raw kill count or numbers.
If you are struggling to get high kill counts before your allies dies this might be why you are struggling with some games. There are other DPS you can pick with more supportive effects that help to counter the things your team is struggling with.
Some games I’m playing my best tank on Winston, getting stuff done, but ultimately my team is hard focusing the ball and struggling to kill him. I dont’ play hog much at all, but I’ve had numerous games where I stop trying to expect my team to play the smart thing and ignore ball and simply help them hard focus the enemy ball player by a roadhog swap. Instant progression in the game.
Once ball is removed, the team comes back to their senses. You might need to broaden your flexibility in the DPS roster and player more various heroes. Use a bastion to blow up an enemy winston causing your supports to die. Pick a torbjorn to help your support backline survive. Pick up that hitscan to deal with pharah.
DPS has some of the highest flexibility in the game and I’d say as a team you can try to carry through sheer performance or you try to help systematically remove the greatest barriers to your team progress.
I’d assume the issue is population size. Dps players are the majority. I assume most high queue times for support only happen at higher ranks but for dps the metal ranks you have more people you need to be better than to get up. It’s not impossible or that much harder per se. But more players means more to push through to hit higher echelons of comp.
