The game presented me with the competitive awards screen and it blatantly lied about my rank. At the end of the season I had hit diamond and left it there and now I do not receive my competitive points or title for it, inserts being told I peaked plat 1.

The 7 win 20 loss system doesn’t preventing your true rank from changing it just prevents you from being able to see it changing.
