Easiest sniper in video game history

But everyone can use this, and there are other ways to one-shot at melee (Flak) and at medium range (Charged rockets), and without any combos, in Overwatch only one widow per team is allowed

Okay you play her then, I doubt it’ll go well for you. Stop relying on the baby mode support role for once.

always thought it was funny when people say this.

overwatch has instant movement acceleration. meaning you accelerate to your top speed almost instantly.

other games have an acceleration penalty or longer movement acceleration

Wasn’t really an issue in Unreal because basically every gun could one shot, the maps were tiny and anybody could pick up and use the sniper

I dont like Widow but she is definitely not the easiest of all time.

In some CoDs you could quick scope body shot kill in one hit. And there were no tanks that could survive it or shields that could be put in your face to block it. No damage falloff either

Her targets are pretty difficult compared to most games, it’s the players of those targets :dart: that make it look easy :joy::stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Idk the mobile sniper games are pretty easy.

Arcade ones really easy.

Duck hunt.

Its pretty easy in paladins.

Mass effects sniper is very simple and rewarding in all games.

youve clearly never played any other fps before LMFASOOOO

UT2004 upended all that with the big vehicle maps – they were full length battle fields. Onslaught games were easily the best of all the PVP modes.

I always laugh a little when people compare widow to other snipers but then don’t compare the rest of the game to other games. I didn’t know CoD had a character that can hide their head hitbox and can roll around the map at high speeds. Which game does the sniper have to work around things like sombra, tracer, winton/Dva, while everything you shooter at gets healed to fill it it’s not a one shot? But no just compare widow to things that make you look right.

when did I said that shields are good or bad? I just said, that we have shields against Snipers. Other games do not have it.

Widow is NOT weak in close combat… She was buffed in that area a few patches ago.

Didnt she use to be able to do that to zen way back in OW1

You do relize that there are very few maps with site lines longer then her range right?

Like for widow to encounter fall off, she has yo go out of her way to do so.

Correct, however are you forgetting that the hitboxes are giant marshmallows making them much larger targets to kit.

And are you also forgeting that widow hitscan also has a hitbox now making it even easier to hit.

She can 1 shot way more heroes then she cant.

Back in OW1 when you had 2 tanks and more and beefier shields I would agree with you but not now.

Except she has a escape ability to negate that weakness.

I could say the same thing about you.

Thats fall off, widow has fall off, not drop off. He bullets are hitscan they dont fire projectile that drops.

Torbs gun has drop off as his projectile arks.

No? Its quite alot actually. Widow only needs ~80% charge to kill 250 health targets.

56m is a joke for a sniper.

however are you forgetting that we do not have movementaccel and many heros can manipulate their hitbox.

Does not matter on the range widow plays. Give her a projectile with a velocity of 800m/s and it just feels like high ping.

Snipers in other games can oneshot anyone to the body

which is on 12 sec CD and it does not negate it.

Do you know what this whole topic is about? Do you play other shooters? Do you even play snipers?

I usually main snipers in FPS games. Widow is the easiest to me because of everything overall. There are some weaknesses, but the fact that certain drawbacks are missing make her much, much, much easier.

Some of those things missing just fundamentally make her easier IMO. I’ve played Widow for like, 150 hours at this point and it just feels like the entire environment of the game does not add enough for her to feel like she has to try. Mechanical aim is what makes her baby’s first sniper; it’s the fact that there’s no real consequence or any additional effort for it. You don’t have to worry about ammo, you don’t have to worry about swaying, you don’t have to time your shots, and you can get your angles easily because of her grapple hook.

And you also have 4 other teammates to help you cover other weaknesses. Some of the other weaknesses are also something that benefits from as well - different hitboxes, animations, no movement acceleration, she can benefit from shields, etc.

I do not agree that she’s one of the hardest snipers in FPS games. I will admit that I have a hard time imagining that I’ve played CoD, Halo, Apex Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, Fortnite (pls don’t judge I was trying it out for a long time lmao), Valorant, and Doom. They…all feel much harder to play than Widowmaker.

One of the FPS mentioned in the thread that I can’t speak to is Titanfall 2. I have never played that game and I don’t know much about it at all. If that is an optimal comparison to make, I can’t make it myself because I don’t know. :frowning:

The only thing I think is fair to say is that movement acceleration is something that makes it harder to hit her shots…but then I feel like that has a good amount of it negated by the fact it’s hitscan.

Tell me you’ve never played against a good sniper player without telling me you’ve played against a good sniper player. Without reverse falloff their theoretical close-range weakness literally just disappears after they reach a certain level of aim skill.

Those shots are among the most difficult shots you can hit, and even those Good Players do not hit them consistently and when they do, they are hyped about it.
Those shots are High Risk High reward and are Earned.
