DVA, Winston & Hammond will get upgrades in OW2

So I guess Reinhardt and Winston are losing their shields? Damn, that’s crazy!

Look at what Rein currently is. Remember when Blizzard made fun of Rein players that swung more & shielded never in Rein’s Cinematic Short? That’s exactly what Blizzard encourages since they nerfed Rein’s barrier & buffed his damage.

And thats just OW1. In OW2, Rein will get TWO firestrikes & will be able to turn while Charging. So Rein will be more of a hard hitter than he already is. There’s nothing about it that spells defense. That’s all DPS, and the Pros will enjoy it the most.

And Winston, we already know he’ll get a new damage ability in OW2. But him getting upgraded will certainly result in his base damage being strong, so players wont have to combine the rocket jump dmg, crappy base dmg & melee to get kills, all while shield hopping.

Of course tanks are becoming more brawl-like and more based around really getting in there and dealing damage. This is especially the case for main tanks like Reinhardt and Orisa, so they’re gonna be more damage-like.

But you argued that off-tanks were becoming even MORE damage-based which isn’t the case. They’re having their defensive capabilities increased to allow them to compete with a Reinhardt, for example, who has great defensive capabilities.

Just read through this statement, it tells you how off-tanks and main-tanks are being balanced in a way that allows them to attack aggressively yet still defend their team when they need to.

Blizzard nerfed Rein’s barrier & they will get rid of it altogether in OW2.

Hammond never had defense capabilities in the first place.

DVA & Winston did, but DVA is an attacker now & her DM had nerfs, and Winston’s current defense capabilities is why he sucks. He cant get kills, and his barrier was never good in the first place.

Its bs. The job main Tanks once had is dying, and it will never come back.

Blizzard’s words & their priority shows that only DPS will remain in OW2, mainly for the OWL.

And unfortunately, that’s the only way OW can be fixed. Blizzard will never go back to Classic Overwatch.

You really think that the Overwatch Team is going to remove Reinhardt’s core identity? Seems like you’re very pessimistic about OW2 and somehow also have a time machine, which is pretty awesome.

No…

Stop. AndyB confirmed that Tanks ROUTED in shields will be getting more damage.

Tanks like D.Va/Wreckingball/Winston are getting there utility improved and defensive abilities buffed.

Okay, just to clarify, that was meant to be sarcasm-

They already messed with it by nerfing the barrier, buffing his dmg & therefore encouraging the very playstyle they once made fun of.

The opposite actually. Any hope of Tanks being good at their job again died when Echo, another DPS, was the last newest chatacter we gotten.

Blizzard wants all DPS, nothing else.

Hopefully we get to see the reworks for all three in action on Saturday. I doubt they have all the tanks ready to go, but it would be nice if we could see them all in their initial reworked glory.

This just isn’t true. Blizzard themselves have said they would be giving tanks such as Winston, Dva, and Ball more “defensive stopping power”, and in the pvp livestream both Dva and Zarya gained buffs to their “protecting” abilities. You’re ignoring the facts they’ve showed us and making up problems that don’t exist

I highly doubt d.va is getting any major changes.

They tried to kill her so many times and the pros won’t stop playing her unless zarya is meta.

Baby D.Va will have 400 HP and have a Fat Man from Fallout

pretty much, hammond is already the best solo tank in the game. Just buff his numbers a bit and he’ll dominate

You’re ignoring the fact that they’ve said it with their own words back at that OW2 presentation that Tanks will not defend.

Then there’s the fact that Jeff before he left, said he wanted OW to go more in an FPS direction than a MOBA one. That was in August last year.

Blizzard has been doing exactly that before 2020. But what do we have now? Rein & Sigma are DPS. Rein will hit even harder in OW2 considering his improvments there that we were shown. I dont want to start on the Healer side.

First off, defensive STOPPING POWER would certsinly apply to them being able to get kills efficiently.

DVA’s Defense Matrix wont be reverted to being good again. Winston’s barrier wont get buffed. And Hammond was never a defender to begin with so Blizzard will def make him hit harder & without relying on CC.

Actual defense, shielding teammates, will be dead. Idk how you can say otherwise when all the Tank nerfs alone make Blizzard’s priority clear.

Except it did. They extended the duration of it in the pvp livestream and we can expect that to carry over to OW2.

Defense Matrix used to last 4 seconds. Blizzard nerfed that down to one. In the OW2 Toronto Push gameplay video, DM still lasts 1 second & you can see that just 2 minutes & 34 seconds into the video.

So no, Blizzard wont make DM good again. And with 5v5 around, why bother? Brawlers/Bruisers/Heavys will be on their own. DVA will just get ganged up on every single time, so that annoying ability doesnt eat up ults at the right time.

If grapple were more focused around doing damage than being fast, you don’t require CC to deal with the character

The reason you need stuns for Hammond isn’t because of “grapple spam,” it’s because of how fast he gets around. You can’t damage him enough to deal with him without stuns most of the time.

If he were slower but more threatening, that would be easier to balance

Don’t think so, he already worked fine solo tanking before 222, it’s just going to be hard for people to learn how to play around him

You’re just confirming to people that tanks are all about being shield bots. Hammond is a great tank design, other tanks need to be more like him and not the other way around
