DPS players will benefit from 5v5

No it’s not.

By removing the need to search for another player who is rarely found, you cannot possibly increase queue times. It is a 100% guaranteed queue time improvement.

The only way for this to happen would be for 1 tank player to be harder to find after the changes than finding 2 players, currectly, which is just not happening, since tank is being reworked to be fun for more people

At the rate they are losing lead devs. I doubt they will be able to program the time on their microwave much less balance 5v5.

They reduced his shield health by 400 (1600 to 1200).
But the point is that he has a shield. Also now 550 hp again. Lol.

How is a zarya going to compete with that with her 400hp and 200hp bubbles?

I get the feeling this statement is going to age like milk.

Time will tell. I just can imagine that a good bunch of ppl are at a point where they just don’t see much hope anymore for Overwatch.

Also keep in mind that NO Content Creator wants to get associated with Blizzard anymore after all the latest news, big streamers like FitzyHere as example don’t stream OW anymore, OWL loses support and investors on a daily base, not even considering all the damage that can cause the lawsuit and other stuff that came up lately, while the playerbase feels ignored.

I mean… yeah you could be right… maybe everything is going to went up from now on for Blizzard and Overwatch 2 will be released and successful and a fun experience. I just look at it realistic and highly doubt that.

I think they should let us try 5v5 with the changes. And if it doesnt work there should be a instant revert every change button

It was just demo for showcase, we only got a glimse of their intention. And seeing OW2 is still nowhere near finished, they still have plenty of time to try to figure it out

With one less tank to swap pressure with, this will happen.

They have been trying this approach for years and yet here we are with tank player numbers in the dirt. The idea of more people will play tank if you make them more like dps has been proven wrong. If someone wants to play dps why would they play a watered down version of that?
On top of that you have more people who actually like playing tanks leaving the role.

Solo tanking is miserable. Why would anyone even go into a game to play hog only to be a ult farm for long range hitscans blowing you up before you get into range to do anything. At that point you can be replaced by a deployable lamp. Who would want to play that?

That is not being a realist, that is being a pessimist.

While I do really enjoy Fitzy’s content, there will always be viewership for Overwatch content and by leaving he will just hand over his viewership to other content creators and streamers.

What are you talking about? There are plenty of streamers/content creators that still produce content on the daily. Overwatch/OWL have nothing to do with the current controversies surrounding harassment etc at Blizz. Any one disassociating themselves with the league/overwatch is doing so to preserve their own image and in no way to help fix the problem.

That being said, the League means very little to the player base and most of us couldn’t care less if it goes away even if it’s only gone for a while and comes back for OW2.

Overwatch is fun now and it will still be fun when OW2 comes out. You know what fun is right?

I am worried snipers become meta.

I don’t think the problem is a tanks being more or less like dps. I think the problem is a lack of variety and fun options.

The problems is the more tanks you add, the more unintended synergies you end up having. With only one tank you won’t have anymore of these ‘unfun meta’ synergies and it opens up the tank role to new hero concepts and new playstyles.

Solo tanking is fine. I end up doing it anyway half the time in comp because the other tank player is usually just a dps player instalocking hog to get quicker Q’s.

The only issue i see with solo tanking is vs 2 tanks tbh

As a main tank I’m fine with it. Frankly they should have just kept 6v6 and moved one of the slots to a DPS/support flex role.

That is very simple math yes, but when u are a company making millions if not billions, u stop using a third grader math and start considering probabiltiies, such as the probability that in a longer run there will be even less tank players.

U dont need to lose 50% of tank population to get equal queue times as they are now, u simply need to lose 25%, while gaining 25% of dps population. The dps population is already in an incline, while the tank in a decline. U will reduce half the need for tanks, but considering u get a wave of new players, theres a good chance that que times will increase.

Why is that? Theres several factors:

  1. Tank population will keep decreasing (the existing one).
  2. New players WILL gravitate towards dps, as statistics show that they already do (otherwise, we wouldnt be in this scenario)
  3. Dps population will likely increase through other roles
  4. The promise of improved queue times will farther attract players towards the dps role.

Theres more factors, but these are a few I can guarantee u will lead the slope towards an increase of queue times.

EDIT:

  1. This one is more of a speculation - with only one player filling the tank role, I imagine they’ll not release many new tank heroes, and likely create an even larger difference in how big tank and dps rosters are. When there are more heroes in one role, statistically, there will be more mains in that role. On top of that, when a role gets new releases, players want to play them, creating spurts of huge dps population and even possibly making players change roles.

I do, but you obviously went crazy. XD

I still think my off-tank is the only player in the field I can generally trust to help me out in a pinch. A zarya bubble saves my butt too many times for me to just forget it.

Your response insinuates that you don’t find Overwatch fun. Sooo, why do you play then?

I don’t anymore. What I stated allrdy in my first post in this topic.

Funny that. People who don’t even play the game trying to tell people who actually do how things work.
