DPS is the most garbage, unpleasant and ungrateful role

You’re playing the role everyone is queuing up for. The point of compensation is to encourage people to play the other roles.

Almost nobody gives out endorsements as it is. I always do, especially if we win or the team legitimately tried. But I rarely get them in return. The most baffling thing is when people are like “Nice job, (person I played) we couldn’t have done that without you!” and then they don’t endorse me. Thanks I guess. Why not take the extra step, it costs you nothing.

You think it’s not like this as a tank or support? Everybody wants to blame anybody who isn’t themselves. And there are times when we lose, and I’m sitting there with gold hero damage on a tank or a support, as a guy who isn’t even a dps nut but mostly focuses on healing and protection and I think “what were the dps doing there?” And I’m sure they think “what were the tanks or supports doing that game?” lol. It’s hard sometimes to own up to our mistakes. We all do it I think, from time to time. Just like I think everyone has been publicly blamed as the cause of a loss at some point playing this game.

Well they crammed like 3/5ths of all the game’s heroes into one role. That’s probably got something to do with it. And a lot of the feedback in the game is dps centric. Elimination! Headshot! Killstreak! There’s not a lot of that for the other roles. Sometimes you get a LIFESAVER potg or a BLOCKING! notice and that’s nice but these feel neither as dramatic or frequent as the others. Even when you get POTG’s on the other roles, it’s usually for killing things.

5-7 minutes? That’s about what I wait for support matches nowadays. I actually thought DPS have it much worse in queues.

at the end of the day the biggest problem is the overuse of “team dependency” teamwork and synergies are a positive point, relying excessively on a teammate is terrible.

yea ok

but how many kills is gold?

because when its 8 or less you have a problem. doesnt matter if its gold
ive had games where gold elims is frickin ONE

ONE for TWO rounds.

yes dps dif
how many times have i gotten a sombra one trick who emps when everyone is dead?
a attack torb, who not only at that is that but ults again when everyone is dead
a sym into a pharah?
junk into pharah?
no communication of when yall are gonna ult so i can focus heals or dmg if im mercy or bubble u if im zarya?
what about all the times ive gotten dps who flank and leave the team over and over and over and over and die and die and spam for heals. when the other 4 players are together on the other side of the map???
that crap literally lost us the game. when we were winning

DPS dif

talk about blame? its usually the healers who are the first ones to be blamed. NONE of the above matters

It is so much “garbage” that ppl can’t stop queueing for it. :woman_shrugging:

Perception versus reality is the problem with that one. I would argue it says more about the average players intelligence than it does about what is genuinely enjoyable.

I see the supports get more verbal abuse than the damage, usually. The tanks rarely get blamed, though.

Yeah DPS is so bad that the majority of the playerbase still picks it, makes sense

Imo the most unpleasant und ungrateful role is still tank, or else we would havent had this situation with Ow2 being 5-5 now…

I thought it would be interesting to spectate some of the people who blamed me in the past, to see if I could learn anything about mistakes. But so far they have just been playing so badly that I can’t believe they have the audacity to make any comment at all.

Well DPS is simply the most fun role for most people and they play the game probably because of their dps role and not because of some endorsement level. Sure while the queue times suck, many dps are practicing during that time since dps ist the most mechanical demanding role

Since role Q came in and tank players can’t switch off they get treated like garbage by the other roles. And I REALLY miss telling a patronising DPS or support player that they are the tank now, as they seem to be such an expert.

I actually agree on that since support really isn’t the play making role (with some exceptions ofc.) and is more often than not a passive role.

I rarely see this and If I do I just mute the person? Nobody should expect you playing at OWL in quickplay

I mean partly, sometimes, they can be blamed, solely when they go Hog- dVa and play poke the choke

But joke aside, its also a big issue when u get a low to mid plat tank player, while the enemy gets a diamond tank, to somehow balance the SR rank out. Most likely, your tank is gonna get outplayed and u need him to get the foot on the door.

Its an overall unfortunate situation.

I faced a deranked master tank, as a nearly diamond tank. Even more unlucky my 2nd tank locked Zarya which i usually played to rank up. Interesting i won the Rein battle, but his Winston was just wrecking my whole team, and i was severely outclassed. There was almost a difference of 500SR between us … GAME, HOW IS THIS FAIR TO ME AND MY TEAM :stuck_out_tongue:

Absolutely. Can’t tell you how many times on Kings Row my Rein was just feeding and getting rolled by the enemy rein. Very frustrating the matchmaking system…

more fun then playing tank
you get instant ques only to not get the support you need
or you get instant ques and have a great game
at least with DPS you can have fun melting tanks into oblivion and stun stacking them
at least Im guessing that’s fun since it happens to me all the time as a tank

You willingly choose the most populated role

DPS is the easiest role to play right now

What game are you playing where it isnt ‘Screech at tanks for the whole game’? Can I join them instead?

  1. Medals almost never matter. You can have gold damage on Bastion and still be playing poorly.
  2. Yeah, almost every game you will see the losing side blame their DPS for not doing something. Ironically the person who usually blames the DPS in chat is usually the ones under-performing themselves, and instead of looking at their own mistakes they just shift the blame to the easiest target.
