no one says “we need more damage, let’s swap for a rein”. their damage is not similar, goats is a “we outbrawl and outlast you” deal, not necessarily more damage.
I never said tanks will outdamage DPS. I just said they deal enough damage to make the DPS class negligible through brawling, careful target selection, and coordination. Think of it this way, if its 2-2-2 against another 2-2-2, attrition will actually be more dominant and would rely on which DPS has the better target selection, aim, and reaction speed. GOATs and/or NIP are heavy on coordination which meant all of you had to carefully target heroes one by one in quick succession to focus most or all of your firepower on, abusing the fact that it takes alot of time to even pick one of you out before they start losing one of theirs in a teamfight. That’s how non-DPS compositions compensate for lack of “firepower” (when in reality, tanks have enough firepower to compensate enough to live without it).
I have a friend in GM who actually does more DPS on Zarya than he does on any DPS hero. To be fair, his DPS is master level and not GM. But it goes to show that yes, tanks can also put out damage while also being much more survivable.

Alot of people underestimate that, by all means, if you give Zarya 100 charge, she by all means can 1v6 a team if you let her. And I’ve seen this in even GM level where all our Sombra did was EMP and our Zarya grav’d all 6 of them and she solo’d them all.
because a full charge zarya has 190 dps. this is an extreme outlier of a strawman. No one is saying tanks cant do damage.
Roadhog can’t exactly one-shot as effectively as way before, but he still outputs alot of damage per shot, Reinhardt deals 75 damage per swing, D.Va deals an underrated lot of damage, Orisa also hits deceptively hard, Zarya’s basically DPS Queen for tanks, Wrecking Ball also deals an underrated amount of damage, its just Winston who doesn’t look like he deals much damage, but I don’t think anyone with a sane mind would play him for his damage output, but rather how he annoys people.
