That’s why competent Doomfists use roll-out spots, to avoid the distance factor. Like 70% of the DF skill cap is knowing all of the weird and crazy roll-out spots that he has.
I’m not ignoring the rocket punch nerf you’re “offering”. Nobody used rocket punch to kill, when slam + uppercut was so good that nobody had time to react before doomfist got a kill and made it to safety.
That is, RP was used only to escape; so the amount of damage it did was irrelevant. How about if they cut the RP distance in half? Would you be okay with that?
I kinda gave up at this point i would say leave him be he is ok to play in metal ranks or just rework him into a tank or something if done well i would play tank all day.
Which dont exist everywhere on every map. And you know what u use for rollouts? Punch. That either leaves u with no punch or you get bursted down before you even finish your slam. (that’s if the enemy team has literally any sort of awareness ofc)
And yet… where he was he pick rate wise? No where to be found. Not meta until double shield where the only reason he was picked because no other DPS could physically do anything. Gotcha.
And making him less mobile, which was the whole problem with the initial slam nerf?.. no.
I can’t say I support any buffs to him with his current design.
I’d rather they work on actually fixing his bugs so we can get some consistency and gauge where he is from there first. No point buffing things if he’s buggy.
His bugs don’t make him less counterable which is really his problem. He gets countered by so much with like no breathing room to actually perform well.
Oh, absolutely. I’m not saying correcting his bugs will fix him.
It’s just hard to buff heroes and properly gauge their state of balance when they’re buggy. Historically, we’ve had heroes who got buffed massively in one area, still sucked, then had bugs fixed to make them more consistent - and then we’re left with a REALLY busted hero lol.
His uppercut and ult are trash. But compared to heroes like Orisa, Symmetra, Bastion, Sombra, current ult battery Roadhog, Reaper, Mei, and Brig our One punch man is a solid situational sub in counter pick hero.
He’s in that Pharah middle of the pack zone. You can do work against those that pick the wrong composition or you have to switch if ya going into too many counters or great aim.
Their are things they need to change it buff to make Doom more competitive. But other heroes that are absolute F tier should be addressed first.
It’s almost like a hero isn’t meant to be good on every map? Also, what cooldowns to use depends on the roll-out spot, but RP is on a 4 second cooldown.
When DF surfs on a rooftop after a RP, the cooldown countdown already starts ticking down. So he only has to wait ~2 seconds before beginning his slam uppercut combo, before RP is ready and he gets away safely.
Which again, only really works against people who are extremely unaware. A majority of time I try to go in using rollouts an ana will instantly be waiting for me.
Why wouldn’t you wait until Ana is a bit low in health, find a different hero out of LOS of Ana, or wait until someone calls that she used her sleep dart?
Even if it’s a suicide kill, a one-to-one trade for a main healer with a DF is worth it simply due to DF’s mobility alone.
This entire post and thread is a classic “forum Ana” or “forum pick another theoretical counter”. This isn’t even counting any teamwork scenarios, like Zarya bubbling the DF.
I feel like the way Doomfist is and the playstyle he offers, that he is just better off as an off tank/bruiser hero. You wouldn’t even have to change his cooldowns much, just give him an extra 100-150hp and he can be on par with the other tanks.
You could even increase the cap of his Passive from 150 to 250 when he’s moved to the tank role.
Don’t think this is the right direction for him. This will likely lead to future unneeded nerfs and complaints.
I will continue to assert that what he desperately needs is Uppercut nerf reverted and a couple meters added to slam OR a small ult buff. Reverting Slam to 20m will just lower his skill floor so I’m not in favor of a completely full revert on that one. People asking for RP nerfs in exchange for this are really that desperate. He’ll be balanced with these changes, no nerfs needed.
