Once he’s in, it’s constant. His cool downs and shields. Other brawler and assassination characters have much longer cool downs on their abilities.

Even if swift strike did 100 damage on impact, it wouldn’t be as good as seismic slam or raisin apricot.
Doomfist’s cooldowns are crazy short for the CC they have and the damage they do, and saying “but his gun sucks” is a weak argument when Genji’s shuriken are the lowest “effective” DPS in the category.
Again. Want the CDs to go back to 7 seconds? Fine. Give us back the old 20m Slam range and the old Meteor, which was still garbage, but less than it is now.
I love when someone discounts range for harassment. Doomfist may be able to do a good chunk of damage with his left click, but he also has to risk everything to do it.
Genji can farm ult, harass the back line, and even pick off weak targets at range. To claim that his shuriken’s are the lowest “effective” damage when it in fact is anything but weak is laughable.
Doomfist is easier to punish if he initiates the fight, extremely hard to punish if he joins after the fight has started. Like, Tracer and Genji are practically Symmetra punishable compared to Doomfist if he isn’t the first one the enemy team sees.
You see this all the way up to OWL play, where Sinatraa engaged after Striker in every SFS game against defensive teams that are looking to punish Doomfist engaging first.
save cooldowns for doomfist if you know he’s that much of a threat. Most characters don’t need their stun to get off decent damage in a team fight. Also most characters have a oneshot combo with their stuns so…
when is the last time you played in overwatch league? Last time that i checked top500 and E-sports are two completely different ball games. A Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Masters, GM/top500 match will never be the same as playing on a well coordinated team who plays with each other what is it 6 or so hours a day. You bring the highest tier of play into the argument and im automatically going to think that point is useless in an argument.
It’s the only balance metric that makes any kind of sense. You can do a lot of dumb things that work great in gold, but you’ll get destroyed in diamond doing them.
If you see a strat working across every elo, then it should indicate that there’s something bigger going on than “play to your elo.”
By that logic why is that doomfist needs these low cool downs? You’re not playing in owl, so you’re not playing against a coordinated team that necessitates low cool downs and shields for you to survive. But yet you and others frame it like you’ll be melted down instantly
that usually means that either nothing else is working or the meta is stupid.
Goats meta - 3 tank 3 supp - none of the dps worked into the comp so the entire role wasn’t being played
Dive meta - Played only in high tiers and only worked in high tiers because you have to coordinate with your team for it to be effective
Bunker - countered goats and it was simple
Hog - Orisa - New to 2/2/2 and it was simple
Double shield - Disables the majority of a role and it is simple. Doom is only played because his counters can’t do anything into double shield or the 2 role limit. Guarantee Widowmaker would be the hot topic if shields never became meta and the only people complain about doom are people who play characters without abilities to stop him or lower rank players
