So, I played DPS a lot today, including a lot of Mei (who turns out to not actually be that hard to play, maybe I learned by osmosis by watching other Mei players). After that, I don’t think Mei should be nerfed until Reinhardt is nerfed. The thing is, Mei is the best specific counter to Reinhardt. And if your team has no Reinhardt, and they do, the only way you have any kind of chance at all is by playing Mei and trying to counter theirs. It makes him just a little bit less obligatory than he would be otherwise.
So, don’t nerf Mei until you nerf the highly overpowered tank she’s necessary to counter. Or maybe buff the other tanks, I don’t care, just so that other tanks are equal in value to him.

Seems more like the current meta comp is built around enabling Mei, so I’d actually say the opposite- no Rein nerfs until Mei gets nerfed.

Rein needs to be slammed hard with the nerf bat, hes borderline broken right now
Rein is pretty much the obviously best tank. If neither team was running Mei, would you really pick another tank? Right.
I would. I play quite a few of the main tanks but not Rein. Mei gives me the most headaches when I try to play one of them.

Here is my idea for nerfing him. Nerfing his barrier to 1200: (it’s more about switching power around, less for his team reliance, more for individual play potential)
I don’t think Rein is broken, but lowering Steadfast and shield movement speed to 40% would not make him unviable at least.
Where do you play exactly? Just curious.
Probably plat although I never placed as DPS specifically.
Why does it matter? Rein is the best tank in every rank.

Well, the problem is that Rein isn’t particularly OP. It’s more like Orisa is trash. She was always great against Rein in the ladder and a Mei counter.
Instead of nerfing Rein, I’d give her 800hp shield.
People suggest to lower Rein’s shield to 1000/1200. What they never consider: he actually has to drop it unlike other shield tanks to do damage. In my elo or above, you drop it and someone will die pretty shortly to a sniper.
Lower hp shield on Rein will make it significantly more difficult to take cover and disengage.
But well what do I know about tanking. Just a hardstuck.
DVA has a rough time of it too. I’d say more than Rein in that he has a chance to drive Mei off with damage while DVA has little to no defense other than running away ASAP.
She doesnt hard counter him as much as hammond.
but literally the only reason he is picked over hammond is because of mei.
Rein is a team based character
Mei is meta, so best tank counter to that is rein dva and notice the lucio.
lucio rein means rein isnt seperated anymore so rein isnt hard flipped everytime mei walls him (high ladder play)

Mei right now is gate keeping Winston, Hammond, roadhog from seeing play.
She hard counters all of them.
No ignoring also sigma and orisa who got their rear end butchered with nerfs and the fact mei fs them too.

When Orisa isn’t trash, she actually does pretty well against Mei.
Because you aren’t meeting snipers/hitscan players who are aiming at your support and waiting for shield to go down.
And Rein has a trust factor from your teammates.
Just some idea. You can be god tier Winston. But pick him over Rein in solo queue. You’ll get flamed since people need shields. That’s the reason Rein is more popular in any elo.
