Numerous gigabuffs when chain has been this massive since launch. Of course support players don’t think anything of it being they are consistently the strongest and most pampered roles. Unfortunately for anyone who likes playing skill expressive characters they made one of the biggest counters a stereotypical anime eboy to sell skins so of course they have to make him easy and broken to sell even more skins. Game.is cooked…
A Roadhog hook would land if thrown there, too. The animation doesn’t necessarily match the projectile. It extends forward from center to the crosshair, which passes into Tracer’s hitbox. It’s not like his chain is easier to land than flashbang, javelin, or any other CC ability.
Mizuki isn’t any easier to play than 50 other heroes. He has to be constantly aggressive, put himself at risk, and land shots to pump his aura effectiveness up. It’s easy to get zero value out of him if he’s not played well.
while this is true that those cc abilities are also pretty big, other forms of cc are not (in my opinion) nearly as powerful or as strong as mizuki chain
for example flashbang is point blank range and slows someone for 1.2 seconds
nearly all other cc abilities have clear weaknesses or limitations, while mizuki chain is 20 meters long and holds someone in place for 1.6 seconds, much longer than a cass flash, while also not being blockable by matrix abilities
You have to put him into the danger zone, up front with the main part of your team.

I played this earlier today. 6v6 Comp. I was playing Mizuki under PirateTK. (I don’t play comp on my forum account)
28 elims, 43 assists, 2 deaths - 6435 damage, 14735 heals. 44% chain with 11 hinders. 63% average Aura.
My next game was a complete farce in comparison.
I went 6 elims to 8 deaths. Still had 8336 in heals. But managed a dismal 33% chain with 6 hinders. We were slaughtered. Basically a reversal of the previous match. lol
You must not be looking very hard, then. Off the top of my head, he can’t really do anything about fliers and he’s not a great tank saver compared to like Ana.
So it’s okay for Roadhog to hook with the same hitbox and oneshot but it isn’t ok for Mizuki (only with the chain damage perk) to hook and give ‘em the ol’ one-two?
What’s wrong with people and not letting some supports be able to contest a DPS/be anti-dive.
Mizuki’s entire kit relies around aggression because you basically have a Lucio AoE that relies on you healing and doing damage for its effectiveness to increase. If you die to a Mizuki because he chained you and get angry, you should get angry that Roadhog can do the same thing but worse.
Mizuki can be an anti-dive character. That’s completely fine, but he has to be putting in the same amount of effort that I’m putting in, otherwise, it’s just another one sided crutch swap interaction. (We do not need more of that nonsense in Overwatch. It’s already gotten out of hand as is.)
I made a post about him awhile ago, and yeah… His hit boxes are just completely egregious and mostly utter BS.
Ain’t nobody defending Hog, bruh. They’re both complete cancer to deal with.
I use chain on flyers all the time. Sure it can be harder to land on a flyer, but its still possible. I also use it to break apart cat and whatever hero she is carrying.
Yeah, exactly. Most of my fights are me playing Mizuki and constantly having to deal with flanking Genji/Anran/Moira/Venture/Vendetta/Shion/Reaper or whatever else the enemy team tries to throw at the backline.
Who says? You? And who says he isn’t putting in effort? I find him to be a much more demanding healer to play, I have to be aware of so much more going on in order to not be falling over dead or end up useless as a healer… He isn’t that easy, if you are trying to get the most out of him. Mei is a very tough sticking point for me when playing him for sure. A good Venture gives him trouble too.
If we were to balance based on how much effort we need to put into a character, then we need to look REALLY hard at heroes like Sierra. She is like easy street for clocking in damage and kills. I barely play DPS as much and I can pick that hero and just win games with her. SHE is easy. Mizuki is not that easy.
People still complain. Every Comp game I played in yesterday they banned her. But not Miz.
She is another one he can shut down, if you can nail her down for that really short chain time.
I certainly don’t feel overturned while I play him. Landing the chain is like twice as hard as a Hog hook. And when you finally land it the target can wiggle around and avoid all your shots.
His left click is also severely underwhelming in both damage and distance. Out of all the supports with some sort of offensive capability he’s my least favorite to do damage with. Even with the buffed tp and chain damage perk it’s just so hard to go on the flank with him. I mostly use the tp to either escape or close distance to friendlies.
His healing when he doesn’t have his hat is also not phenomenal or life saving, if you’re out of your (I forgot the name) hat thingie and your tank is dying? You are most likely done for if your other support is dead or awol.
When I play I see many Mizuki’s picking the healing buff perks. Both the Aura one, and the hat one.
I rarely ever pick those. I usually pick the chain damage for Mizuki, and the speed buff. And I still outheal those same Mizuki’s that pick the healing buffs…
Did this three times yesterday, and had to laugh. Now, for some comps or maps, I might go healing aura buff over the chain buff, but the speed buff is nearly mandatory. I use this to help my team move around, either engaging/attacking, or with retreats. That speed perk is very useful to not be using it. The hat buff… Meh. Its nice, but honestly grand scheme its not very useful to me.
The earlier Perks at least have weight to choose from. And if you are having a bad chain day, better off picking the Aura perk anyway.
Personally, they should just give the speed buff thing a permanent fixture to his kit, nerf his damage over time a tad, then add a perk for extending his damage range 5-10 meters.
Mizuki’s skill expression comes from target priority, CD management, and knowing when to go in, when to use your return, when to ult, and knowing to position around your tank correctly.
Reading comprehension check! The complaint is not that he counters but how incredibly easy he can counter. Make chain a quarter of the size and he’s suddenly balanced and feels like a fair check to the still even more skill expressive divers. But that monstrosity of a hitbox is just a disgrace. I tried him for the first time since launch recently and had 85% chain accuracy you pretty much have to be trying to miss it
