Exactly what it says. Mauga is extremely unbalanced. It’s turned the game into mindless tank play and you have to run a certain comp to even have a chance of killing him. Whoever green lit these buffs before he went into comp should be fired.

Buffed by design for battle pass sales. Also released before the holidays by design so they can use the holidays with their family excuse before nerfing him and enticing people to buy the battle pass instead of waiting for a balance change

If this buff came as the season started, I’d feel inclined to think it is a possibility.
But he was garbage when the BP came out… it was 2 weeks to late for silly games like that.
I am in the same boat.
Mostly a tank player.
When they go Mauga you mirror or you lose.
And even if you mirror you need the right support and DPS.
The whole game now revolves around Mauga.
POS money grab pay to play.

The new balancing team of what must be fresh devs are profoundly shortsighted and poor at balancing the game. It’s been this way ever since OW2 launched.
Mauga at this state is just a meme and testament to the falling ‘blizzard’ quality.

Make a hero that is RIDICULOUSLY OP. Possibly the most OP hero release ever. Don’t make him interesting or fun. Just make him a “I want to win with no effort” pick. Then lock that hero behind a paywall.
Easy money.
Blizzard devs should be ashamed.

I’ve no idea what you are talking about. He was far stronger when his dmg was 5, which was between December 5 and 12, after he received massive buffs when the BP came out. He became a little mediocre after they nerfed him (December 12, iirc), and then they buffed him again before putting him into competitive (December 20), which is his current state that people are complaining about.
I finally unlocked him. Only played open queue with him so far and went 1-1. Both games I was the only Mauga. You may be wondering how I actually lost the first one but it was literally my first time playing him and I still did ok. I should also mention the other team had 4 “counters” to me in the game that I won but I still went something like 27 and 5.
Idk if I’m playing him right I basically just spam abilities and hold down both mouse buttons but still get value. I just had to confirm if he was actually broken or not and it seems like he is. Even though I feel like I could farm some wins with him I don’t really find him that fun to play.

Yep. And oh boy are games boring with him in.
That being said, I just played a game, went Sigma Dva against Mauga, Hog, Bastion… rolled them.
Even though the devs try to gaslight us with his default voiceline
He is a fun character, his voicelines are decent. The stories hes in are good…
But corner, M1, burn, M2, corner, M1, is a little boring. But, maybe it is just a me thing… I am used to playing Ball and yeeting around the map.

the battlepass only matters now that he is in ranked. this is where the sales matter
Without seeing the sales trends it is going to be hard to tell. But I’d imagine the graph will have a massive spike at the start of the season, a stead decline in daily purchases over 2 weeks, and a small possible jump on 2 weeks.
id argue that you would see two spikes.
one when he launched and one when he hit ranked.
granted, I usually have the heros unlocked before they hit ranked but there are people with less free time than I.
if he is good in ranked then it just incentivizes more poeple to purchase him after those 2 weeks. his balance state leading upto this is irrelevant.
