I’ve had mine for two years and it’s pretty much fine. I upgraded the RAM to 16 and put in an HDD. While I can’t run on high render scale without really bad framerate, I still run on like 60 FPS and I’m at peace with the lower render scale. I commute to and from my dorm to often to set up a standard computer
Do you maintain it properly? I bought an Alienware R3 for about $500 on Craigslist. It ran a bit hot so I bought a laptop cooling fan for $20 on Amazon. The 980M it has will run the game on epic settings at a consistent 60 FPS. Just the fan alone made almost a 30 degree difference in temperature.
I bought my new one from IBuyPower. They do a good job
Alienware are clevo right?
Mine runs like 60 FPS ultra but I lowered to medium. Perhaps don’t overwork your system… lower graphic quality really takes it easy on em.
I’ve had my Alienware for like 6 years and it works fine after all this time.
I’ve had a positive experience with Alienware tbh.
Though now that I know more about buying computers and such I would’ve bought another brand or built my own and saved a lot of money tbh.
I’ll never buy Alienware again. Literally days after my warranty was up it started having major problems. Dell basically wanted 1/2 the cost of a new system to keep it running. I will never do business with them again.
Or you buy from a company that’s actually reputable like cyberpower. I bought a beast PC premade from them. Priced out it was only $100 more than if I bought all the parts and built it myself.
Either way if you buy an Alienware you deserve what you get, it’s a trash company.
iBuyPower isn’t nearly as good as cyberpower.
No one deserves to be taken advantage of for trying to buy a premium system.
I agree, but if you do a bare minimum 5 minutes of research you would know that Alienware is overpriced and gets middling reviews.
Dell is a great company, but I’d have to agree that their acquisition of Alienware, and subsequent quality plummet in that brand name is saddening.
Used to be, Alienware was the rig you coveted, but could scarcely afford. Now it’s affordable via Dell’s pay as you go plan, but long before you pay it off, it will be obsolete.
For gaming, I stick with a desktop. If I want gaming on the go, I’ll play something far less processor/graphics intensive. The newer laptops that are marketed for ‘gaming’ are typically garbage, and only utilize the gaming moniker to get you to purchase it for far more than another manufacturer could build and sell it to you for.
Just find a decent laptop with a 1050 or 1060M, 16GB of RAM and an AMD or Intel processor in it and you should be just fine. If it starts getting hot on you, try dialing back the video settings, or go into the adapter program and dial back the performance, or dial up the fan speeds.
I was new to the PC scene (I played console for 10 years) everyone kept telling me to just buy a pre made but never gave me a name so I just saw Alienware and bought it.
Definitely making my own when I get the money for it, if I still had a warranty for it I would get a refund.
Well, I have like a 6yr old Alienware that runs fine aside from the HDD being slow as molasses at this point. I’ve never had any problems with it.
If it’s overheating that much have you considered that it might be the environment it’s in? Pretty much all laptops have awful cooling so if your room isn’t well ventalated it’s not going to go well.
Last time I had a PC that I didn’t build myself it was an original Pentium circa 1994.
I’ve had two Alienware PCs since 2013 and 2014 and upgraded them as well, both rock solid. If there was an issue (only happened on one) it was taken care of ASAP by Dell; I’ve had no more issues with either of my Alienware PCs than with any of the PCs that I personally built. It sounds like you were unlucky and that Dell should troubleshoot you rig more to find the issue.
if you ever go prebuilt again, look into falcon northwest. It’s a small company where i live and yes I do have a few friends that work there. But they consistantly out preform alien and all other competitors. the problem is it’s such a small company that they don’t have any budget for advertising XD.
they did a lot of tests its my cpu all 6 cores were at 100c when i play thats 212 F my gpu was at 60ish no i never looked up bad web-sights so its not that prob haha after they try to fix this one it will be my 4th repair bought it may 8th alienware used to be the best gaming pcs a wile back now it sucks hard core
