Sombra is not in dokiwatch, but there is a lot of subtext hinting towards them. Sombra is so palpable in the text you can tell it is about her
First let’s look at the villains. Nocturna’s goal is to turn people’s hearts hollow and fill them with woe. Read any sombra forum post and full of woe is obviously the perfect description. And “hollow heart” signifies lack of empathy, she never attempted to play sombra herself just spams about how easy it is. And she is purple too, she is so obsessed with sombra that she became sombra. And notice the only other villain is Moira, unnamed and simply an epic skin. Nocturna is a d.va player became so enranged that they were too bad to track sombra and fed to her all game that they rage swapped to moira, losing all her identity in the process. I myself almost fell to the power of woe, the original draft of this thread was almost as deranged as the sombra derangement syndrome havers themselves but thakfully I snapped out of it and revised and it should be perfectly lucid. And notice how the hollow hearts have 2 skins only, which is precisely the size of a vocal minority required to get sombra banned
Meanwhile the heroes of the story. Brigitte, Juno, Freja, Kiriko, and Widowmaker. Notice anything? They, like sombra, are in the top 5 most skilled heroes in their respective roles, and they like sombra, are in the top 5 least frustrating heroes in their respective roles, with the exception of widowmaker, who they took away the natural purple skin of to symbolize her being less like sombra. Kirko curiously does have a soft purple motif in her design, perhaps to symbolize her being a soft counter to sombra while the rest of the hearts of hope are agnostic to her. Most damning of all Juno, the protagonist of the story, loses her natural purple hair before her transformation even occurs, this is so that you do not associate any of the purple symbolism with juno herself by mistake. Of course it’s not a coincidence either that sombra is the cutest hero in the game omitted from dokiwatch (via objective analysis, my personal taste is towards mei)
Then lets look at the hearts, they are all sombra-esque qualities. Grace, sombra’s movement feels quite graceful in recent reworks, and her kit gracefully gives enemies ample amount of time to respond to her combo. Courage. It takes a lot of courage to defend sombra now with all of the false forum flagging and in game reporting going on now. Passion, read this thread, only the passion of a sombra player could inspire this. Strength may be the hardest to explain, but according to the forums sombra is super strong and oppressive so I’ll have to take their word for it. Then Hope, the uniting factor, all of us the world over hope one day for a better sombra
dokiwatch does not end with Nocturna’s demise, it ends with lifeweaver, another sombra-esque hero, rescuing her, with hints of a path to her salvation. This is clearly a prophecy to me, that sombra’s reputation will be redeemed via a 7.0 rework and that there will be a dokiwatch 2 with a sombra mythic skin in a year or two
