Yeah, I have seen people play mei, and?
What if I play Sombra and my priority is who and when to hack?
I play both roles, tank and dps. Most of the time when dps don’t do dmg is because I’m not creating space or tanking in a good way.
(but I’ve also seen the scenario where Tracer and Genji dive healers and they play 1 v 1 because none help them, usually I’m the only ‘‘idiot’’ trying to protect them)
that is kinda sad but maybe there were other factors involved like dive tanks that where flanking, road always to the left hiding, maybe winston diving at wrong times or hammond just rolling around in the backline which alltogether didnt provide cover for the team. maybe the ana had REALLY bad aim and never healed anyone or the mercy was boosting all the time… maybe moira was a dps moira
sometimes little damage can be explained depending on what the other roles did, its not always the dps fault
also people never take into consideration Team Damage. sometimes the tanks and healers can dish out tons of it and if the other teams tanks/healers are not just concentrating on dps then the other team ends up nuking team the team which only the dps are doing damage.
well also you have the low dps heroes like mei, sombra, and yea sometimes tracer or widow. those heroes need support from the team to make up for their low damage. and widow even tho she has low damage has to have really high critical hit accuracy
it’s actually quite effective because where i play people overreact and use abilities or even ultimates when they don’t necessarily need to and after they are easy for the pickings.
it’s basically you setup, do the song and dance but position yourself to foresee what your dps is gonna do kinda so you move into position to wait for when the enemy strikes, and that’s when you… COUNTER-STRIKE! ™
obviously it’s tricky if you have never done it before because how you do it shifts between what character you are playing, the dps is playing and what the enemy is playing and what map etc.
Sometimes if we dont win is cause i was underperforming as tank. When i play dps the minimum of effort from my tanks is required, but instead i get people who feed and blame dps.
A lot of people are throwing and then blaming others so they dont get reported. Usually the first one to get blamed then gets blamed by everybody.
Had a soldier, junkrat, bap, winston and ball on my team. I had gold dmg as widow. Both tanks were only standing in front of me trying to block my view, literally hard throwing. They all blamed me for apparently not enough damage even though widow is not a high damage character and I still got a pick every fight with two people blocking my sight. We only lost because both tanks were “afk” standing in front of me.
In my experience, the first person to open his mouth against a teammate is the worst player in the room.
As you go lower down the skill tree, it becomes a lot more likely that the skill of the DPS involved is just poor; they do not need any outside factors to perform poorly. Their limitations as a player is the main factor.
Did you tell the enemy team what was going on? Because if anyone knows whether a Widow is good or not, it’s the enemy team. I remember a couple of times where the enemy team stood up for me (usually a Hog main).
I’m a tank and support main. As D.Va, my main tank, I usually end up with gold kills and damage. If I find the dps not doing very well, for example going in without the rest of the team, I usually don’t worry about healing them. They eventually figure out they need to stay with the team to get healing. (I do this because I’m a Mercy main and I stay near the tanks who can protect me the most).
Dude the ones on my team were russian and the ones on the enemy team were russian. They wrote something russian, who knows what - and thats the end of the story.
A lot of times nobody cares.
That is actual suffering, my dude. Sorry to hear you had to deal with those morons.
I’ve had games where my teammates had their mics on full blast with Spanish music on and trying to communicate in Spanish with the rest of the team. I have taken three years of Spanish courses and still couldn’t understand what they were saying because their mics were garbage.
Seems like the answer agreed upon is “See what you can do to help them”.
Otherwise do your best, maybe avoid as teammate.
What did you want to hear?
My response is not really intended for OP because I’m not interested in a debate, but this is instead for those who might be persuaded by this approach.
As mercy player, if you’re a good enough healer you can certainly balance between healing your team and your flankers/those who venture out on their own. Should you do it in every instance or when it means certain death? Of course not, but more often than not, you can save people who are out of position, and you can do it safely, healing them up or helping them win that 1 v 1. Too many Mercy’s view too many players as “too far away” or “beyond my help” because they’re not fully utilizing the mobility of the character, because it remains an underdeveloped area of their skill set.
This is specifically why I pick mercy vs. a less mobile healer in these situations. If you have a tracer or genji or echo or some such hero, go Mercy and assist them. Or even a character like Junkrat or Reaper who’s off on some flank, go help them! Then fly back to your team.
This idea of “when they die enough times, they’ll get the message to stay close by” may feel like some sort of self-righteous vindication, but with this mindset you’ll lose plenty of matches you didn’t have to. Moreover, getting good enough where you can quickly multi-task between teammates near and far is great for boosting your overall skillset as a mercy player. Too many Mercy players have this idea that they should statically stand with their team most of the time and heal bot people who are low. NO! If you want to do that, pick Moira or Ana or Baptiste. Mercy’s mobility is a weapon and it’s a powerful one and it’s great for healing flankers and those who’ve strayed from the team. As both a DPS and a Mercy main, I’ve played with Mercy’s who have OP’s mindset, and they greatly limit the offensive potential of the team with their frustrating methodology that you should play around them, and not the other way around. Good Mercy’s will play around you, assuming you’re playing high risk without being outright stupid. I would argue that a good enough Mercy who views their role more flexibly can help turn “stupid” decisions by teammates into winnable situations.
Part of climbing quickly is knowing how to compensate for the foolish/bad decisions of your teammates, and Mercy is particularly good at this. For this reason, I think she’s one of the best climbing/carry healers in the game.
This is a huge reason OW died so quickly. This hand holding bs. No Overwatch isn’t practice friendly whatsoever and has no safeguards for players beating their face against the enemy team feeding them ult charge. Riot at least has a death threshold and it stops the enemy team from getting gold if someone exceeds it. As well as the fact you can build up your strengths with different items. If a dps is failing miserably and feeding their brains out, their team shouldn’t be forced to change what they have to attempt to help ease it on them. As a player you need to know when you are failing. I want to play the new Brig try her out, but I also know that if the other support is on Zen Brig isn’t a good pick healing wise.
That feeling when I’m on Moira and I have to go out of my way to clean up a kill and clutch an immediate heal after while Hanzo lands 0000000000 shots.
Thanks for the tips. Where I was trying to go with my statement was I don’t stay with the dps on my team if they decide to 1v6 the enemy team while our team is nowhere near us to help. In other words, during situations where I could die. If the situation allows, I usually do go in to help our flankers get out of bad situations. I’m getting better with her. I have my deaths done to about 4 per game from the double digits. Quick question. Should I be worried about my team’s dps if I get bronze kills with mercy and still win the match? (Btw it was 4 kills).
