Laws are for law abiding citizens!
If you can recognize that it is bait (which it’s apparent you can), you shouldn’t be taking it. There’s no reason to have your account actioned against if your intentions are to remain in good standing.
We’re all wired differently, and that’s perfectly fine. Even at my most tilted stages, I always steer clear of foul language or any verbs + nouns/pronouns.
Is that because I’m a saint? well, kind of. But you know (just as well as I) there’s leverage for them to spite report you based on words chosen. Especially when computers and automation are not sentient. It does what it is told.
Let me go on a bit of a diatribe…
I don’t get tilted by text chat or voice chat when it is indiscriminate or targeted toward someone else.
I could get steam-rolled, and the finger sniffer on hanzo spamming main types “gg ez, DPS diff, trash rekt m8”. It really doesn’t hurt me. Even if that “diff” targets me.
What gets me fired up is when my team calls me out on something… even if I was 100% in the wrong. My initial response is to justify it, or pass the blame. Sometimes they’re wrong, but often times they are right. They share a different perspective.
Only one match stuck with me where I lost my cool and lashed out at a fellow rando teammate. Said some horrible stuff to them. and I just remember seeing a response “You make me not want to play this game anymore.”
Seconds after lashing out, I was already remorseful because I knew I went too far. I tried adding them. all I wanted to do was apologize. Not in their response, but because I was being hurtful.
Since then, it’s impossible for me to repeat that behavior. Empathy hits a little different once you’ve gone past the point of no return. Some people just lack it all together.
Sure I’m still grouchy. I’ll plead my case, but I choose my words wisely. I attack the actions in which I think are foolish.
“So you’re saying I’m bad. You’re saying I should switch then?”
me: “Nah, you’re not bad. I just didn’t understand the thought process there”
People will always instigate. I’d bet on a losing horse that their sole intent is to get you to act up. Maybe they just want to ruin someone’s day. Some cats get off on that. They like that anonymous power. A report system is just as detrimental to the good guy as it is the bad guy in cases like these.
You wind up on someone’s radar? They get you to act up… say any word that can form some kind of targeted insult and then report you for it.
There’s no reason to get upset. Definitely stand up for yourself and others appropriately… but let the rats be rats. It’s not like we really remember a loss, or who was even on our team 15 seconds into the “go next” queue.
