Do not watch OWL

Unfortunately people will do what they do, OP.

People who care about the OWL will watch it regardless.

People who don’t, won’t.

Though there doesn’t seem to be a lot of hype for Season 2 for some reason, except in some very contained places like r/competitiveoverwatch, which has shrunk considerably since OWL’s launch. Most topics don’t get more than 20 comments these days.

We’ll see if the Chinese viewers care about the League. If they do, there’s a chance the OWL can be saved.

Dont worry, i didnt saw yet any reason to watch OWL so i will not watch it just like last time

Almost every game that comes out doesn’t have a competitive system when it first comes out.

I didnt say that it didnt had competitive, i said that most of this game for me was casual gameplay, with ranked as just gold weapon farm toxic space.

None of the useful OWL changes make it into the main game, like the UI they play with and other things. Seems like all OWL profit goes straight to share holders, not game development.

The only thing which does translate from OWL is the awful “balance” changes they make to boost OWL viewership.

But i need the tokens for the All Stars Genji Skin

Skins ain’t gonna matter if the game devs halt development even more than they already have. Don’t fall for it.

yes, because brig wasnt OP when she was released, and DF was only nerfed because it wasnt fun to watch, and it was not at all because of forum criers that he was nerfed. /s

No the changes are pretty clearly for lower ranks, anyone aboce diamond immeadately recognized the change was useless to reapers weakness of being focused down before he can get in ur face/tanks face.

Developlement has stayed the same, wheres the facts?

To be honest, anyone telling me not to watch it means I will more likely watch… So yeah.

In the words of a random mid-Master I met on XBL:

Overwatch is an unfair game. Unfair is more fun to play. Fair is fun to watch.

Wait, you honestly believe that it’s the same people who work with balancing the game that also work with OWL?

they have admitted at one point that OWL DID take time away from develoment, around the mercy rework i believe

They took a small amount of time to get their designers to design the skins/logos of the team, not balance/hero and map design.

No, I’m gonna watch it because I want to. Take that.

Also stop it with the ‘mass movements’. Do you really need other people to solidify your stance on something? Are you that afraid to have a strong opinion, alone?

That’s called mob mentality, and it only proves you have such little resolve on your own opinion to needing to resort to numbers. It’s low and pathetic.

This kinda confirms what I was worried about then; the League’s business model is depending on rapid growth which would require it to excite viewers worldwide, beyond the bounds of the traditional gaming community. For advertising and TV deals to be worth anything then the League would need reach on par with existing major sports. These sources of income generate pennies and necessitate a viewership of millions in order to take in serious money. I feel like that’s an enormous gamble; they’re staking the family farm on a huge change in people’s viewing habits that they themselves are trying to cause.

Meanwhile, that one arena that they do own is never going to be enough to win back serious ticket revenue - this all seems incredibly risky.

Typical mob mentality where they need others to validate their opinions.

I don’t feel like you’ve quite understood; these folks aren’t in any doubt of their rightness; they are trying to activate along with others to turn their shared belief into activism. This is more about recruiting and furthering the cause than the first person fishing for support for a niche position.

Mob mentality is an entirely different animal, and it’s born of collective certainty and a shared emotional state, such as widespread anger or fear. It’s something one can appeal to, but only if there’s a mob to treat with in the first place.
