Do you know how much money went into OWL?
Where else do you think its from?
What else explains the lack of content and quality here?
Where are the devs for the past year or so?

Activision has confirmed just now on the quarterly financial report live call that they DID allocate resources that they took from the actual game to OWL and will continue to do so financially. As I was saying.
As well as lower microtransaction revenues in 2018, meaning there is less incentive to create new events/features meaning less resources are ever put into OW without OWL.
That’s not how it works. That’s not how any of that works. How has OWL helped bring content to the actual game so far? Activision has literally said that they’re allocating and taking resources from OW to direct it to OWL financially and putting power in OWL that could otherwise be used in the actual game. That also does explain why we’ve been getting no exciting new content ever since OWL dropped.
And so what if you can if I may be so bold? A year old link will have next to nothing to say regarding to the current status of OW. An assumption but I doubt it’s a false one.
I never claimed OWL is or isn’t a scapegoat.
OP just convinced me to buy the all access pass
The pace of development on this game was slow from the very start. The fact that money was allocated to the OWL isn’t enough evidence to conclude that it seriously held development back. The history of Overwatch developing at an impressive rate was never there. In fact, so little was done from the start I never even noticed development may have slowed down further in the past year with the OWL already running, perhaps even bringing money in.
Furthermore, the argument might have to be limited to not bringing in more people as many people working on the game probably weren’t needed for the OWL. I don’t care for skins too much.
If there is something you want to condemn stop with this dumb speculation that the OWL brought the game down. None of you clowns have a serious idea of the factors involved. You just made an ignorant assumption and assert it as fact. “Condemn” Blizzard’s esports push as putting the cart before the horse. The game never blew up competitively yet Blizzard treated it like not only the next big thing but the big thing for good, making a considerable investment in God knows what for this league. They apparently even suppressed “grass roots” tournaments. They made an assumption about this game, took a risk, that it ends up wasn’t justified. They took themselves too seriously.
The point is the OWL didn’t destroy Overwatch. Overwatch just wasn’t as good of a game as you’d like to imagine from the beginning. Take some of the BRs as an example of how simple concepts can make a huge difference. You have to compliment Blizzard for effort, for pushing the envelope, but just because you push the envelope doesn’t mean you end up with a game people want to play.
So you’re defending the game saying it was bad from the start while calling me an “ignorant clown”- very nice argument you got there buddy
Hey it’s free coins 1
A toxic mercy main cant tell me what to do lol.I like owl go play minecraft
Did you even check my stats? My profile pic is bugged since a month, I don’t even play healer let alone Mercy. Lol. 350+ hours Genji, 150+ Hanzo DF etc. get your facts right before you go cuss me out it don’t help nothing
untrue
they also needed coders for the replay system etc …
That’s what I’m saying. And they’re still working. OWL takes big amounts of resources away from the game still. The main game has become an afterthought almost. When you compare OWL updates to OW updates it’s depressing.
Oh… You don’t have to tell me twice. Already doing just that. ![]()

I’ve seen in a Korean site that they’re working on some “secret major content” lately. I hope we can get out of this mess- all of us. Otherwise it’s game over very likely. This game has so much potential- all they have to do is listen to the community. I’d even go out of my way to throw money at them if they charged for new content at this point.
Paying for something when a company doesn’t deserve your money… i’d not throw a single cent at Activision unless 2019 is like the greatest year to OW (which i seriously doubt)
Out of spite or just to spite the OP?
I’m content as long as they are releasing patch notes, keep doing their best to balance the game while managing OWL. Now that GOATS is slightly less prevalent I believe the game is heading in a good direction balance wise, I’m still having fun so I continue to play.
The average OW player does not understand the pro scene for what it’s actually worth, labeling it solely as a cash grab is incredibly shallow. Do people expect them not to push their biggest product ? OWL and Overwatch are exactly the same, if the game is not healthy everyone that plays the game suffers, including pro players and OWL on a whole.
Overwatch is a team based FPS/Moba, it’s not a book you pick up and read. People play it for the game play experience, if you truly think the game is so bad simply do not play it. Overwatch is a deep game with a lot of nuance to it, if you need the developers words written out in a text post to keep you interested then you aren’t playing it for the right reasons.
I can understand where do you come from. But, the more you say to people “don’t do that” the more they do it. We’re in a minority here, there are millions of Overwatch players outside of the forums who will be watching the OWL.
I’m gonna watch it, go cry some more
