So, there is a retro gaming season.
Diva is a notoric gamer AND she has one of the best skins from the survey for this season - skin, that would be just perfect mythic for a gamer during gamer season.

Looking at all the decisions devs have made for this season… i just give up, dont try to find any reason behind , devs work in misterious ways
Honestly, I do like the mythic we got. I think it looks great. And I’m excited for it. BUT, I also think that this D.Va 8-bit skin should have happened too. Like, I would absolutely have bought both for my main with no questions asked. They are leaving money on the table here.
It´s more like gaming skin is defining her personality, while that mythic looks almost like All - star and yould have been just part of the lunar new year.
The Mythic was a lot of effort put into the wrong decision. It’s flashy and nothing else. The theme feels very loose and connected to D.Va only by virtue of the animal it’s based on being native to her home country (albeit extirpated). Not that most of the Mythic skins have much stronger connections to their owners, but at least Tracer is adventurous, Reaper is associated with death, Reinhardt is a big German(ic) dude with a hammer, and Juno is a disaster lesbian, just like your average magical girl. D.Va’s Mythic is just okay for being a one-off skin the likes of which she’ll never get again. But the fact that 8-bit D.Va, which looks amazing and fits her better than any other character, was passed on for it is criminal. I would have rather gotten that one a million times over, even if it was “only” a Legendary.
