I noticed that when I play competitive, I get disconnected randomly and it has been starting to upset me. My other seasons I have never had this issue. Never at all. This was before we got cable back. We just got our cable back and I’m wondering if the maintenance our cable box goes through is clogging up the modem/router box every night.
I bring up the network graph when I rejoin the match and when I’m about to be disconnected, the latency skyrockets to the 6000s and over. Orange fills the top part of the screen and cannot seem to register what’s going on.
I’ll run WinMTR next time because I don’t want to get penalized for something I’m not doing. The other modes are fine and I only had one disconnect in arcade.
Quick Play and Arcade don’t have disconnects as of late. Just competitive. Anyone else having this issue too? And if so, what do you think could be the problem? Is it my cable box? Should I try hard wiring my laptop as a test to see if it helps or call my ISP about it?
The choice of game mode has very little to do with any disconnections. If you have not already, please make sure you try all steps here first:
Otherwise we will need to see a WinMTR test taken when you notice a disconnection issue.

WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider
I flushed out my DNS, updated my GeForce rendering graphics card, reset my modem/router, and hardwired my laptop to my modem/router to see if it will solve the issue. I have WinMTR running in the background as well. Played one game of comp so far.
Also forums yelled at me because of links so I put a space after the “net” so I could post this. Sent and received also seems to keep going up while I remain idle in Menus too.
Did you ever disconnect when running this test?
No I didn’t. I’ll run it again while I’m playing comp and see if I disconnect.
I managed to fix this issue. Either by flushing my DNS or resetting my modem. One of the two.
