Welcome back, Overwatch!

You guys have a lot of work to do, but I (for one) am hopeful for a better and brighter game moving forward.

really hoping that the new hero every season cadence is a permanent thing and not just for the 10th anniversary

the game would feel so much more fresh and we wouldnt have any “dead” seasons like before

at the very least though i can say this year will be great for overwatch and im looking forward to the rest of the 10 new heroes (even though theyll probably all be ungodly unbalanced and broken but hey fun is fun)

You guys are doing incredible work!

Please reconsider Clash removal! I’d much prefer if it would just come up less frequently in the maps selection if needed!

All good and everything, but I hope we’re not forgetting the poll they organized.

The obvious answer is that this year marks Overwatch’s tenth anniversary and it’s hard to beat that opportunity to go bigger than ever before. But the real answer is a little more nuanced.

If this is for the 10th anniversary, I think it’s good. It seems good, we have yet to really play it. But from experience, I believe we can all tell that the balancing team is honestly not trustworthy. How can we be sure they don’t completely mess up the game and play favourites again? It doesn’t matter what fancy new things you make if the absolute core game, the foundation everything is built on, is basically rotten. This Season is going to seriously lose impact if balancing is as incoherent as always.

The new additions to the game actually seam to be going in the right direction.

You just released a hero that wasn’t “OP” for once. which blends in nicely. The animated short was what fans were asking for as well.

Upcomming changes to the game 8.8 out of 10. (that is a really good rating and only my opinion lol).

The standing elephants in the room should be talked about though and they are going to cause a fire :

1 ) It is time to address the overly insane leaver penalties in Quickplay. our casual playerbase however much people do not like to hear this, we need them here playing the game at their pace. With the notion that if we continue penalizing leavers. The escrow should reset at 7am .

But most important we have to discuss the fact of WHY LEAVERS OCCUR.

I would say by your own core-metrics built into the game you know exactly why people leave matches.

This is primarily caused by premade groups bullying other players that are solo playing in quickplay

There is nothing more than observing the amount of LEAVERS in quickplay matches and watching replays that I have recorded to unveil the amount of abuse that occurs in this game, everything from chat bullying to stack bullying. I’ve watched countless solo players be chased around maps by a group of rabid dogs in this game, and these stackers have gone around PK’ing someone repeatedly at spawn and on the maps themselves, clear off and away from the objective, while they are so strongly skill-diffed by players.

This kind of behavior is acceptable in Ranked play, but for casual people facing premade team “hitsquads” it comes off as super strong abusive gameplay that isn’t welcome.

You could handle that problem alone by doing what indy server admins do and make anti-bullying countermeasures to abilities by giving every ounce of your intellect to come up with a “creative” “blizzard way” to make the game more pleasant for the SOLO PLAYER.

2 ) We need to talk MATCH MAKER.

There are hundreds of threads here saying “Your system isn’t working”. Yes, we know priority is for PREMADE groups, so they get their thristy blood wins, since we know that premade teams are your rention metrics. But in all honesty, its time for a new approach to just taking the premade teams and splitting out the Q when it comes to matches during “on peak” hours. and taking something from your “old playback” from your WoW days, and using the premade teams requirement, that premade teams must fill the slots on THEIR terms before they can have a match.

If the match requires 5 people and they have 4, make them find #4.

At the end of the day. I personally do not think “Free access” is saving this game other than a numbers race and thats it. You have poor quality matches because people that create alt accounts have not enough player data for your ingest servers to gather on them, so its stuck on a time crunch to funnel people in.

If you want to knock your competitors on their (bad word) and make them think twice about challenging “Big bad blizzard” on the block. Show everyone else here you aren’t playing around anymore, and that you can bankrupt the rest of the industry by taking their players. Run with it.

How about you guys explain why Clash mode is being removed? Not a single mention in the directors take.

I did not realize the ten heroes are for the tenth anniversary. Oopsie!

You guys need Mama Hong next year if you go back to three a year. Promise?

Since we are recognizing this is OW’s 10th anniversary, does that mean we’re getting an anniversary event in May? You know, the actual anniversary of OW.

Next week is going to be exciting.

But I just hope that they’ve got a lot prep work done so that, if they missed the mark in places on balance, they can iterate faster than they generally have been.

There’s other problems that still need addressing, like Drive signatures being temporary, but we’ve got a pile of new heroes coming, so I’m going to try to focus on that for now instead of negatives.

No one expected Overwatch 3 because no one bought into 2 being a new game to begin with. And since you’ve also stopped pretending, you also have no more excuse to exclude original Overwatch playtime from progression.

They have an excuse: they lost the data. At least that’s the information I got through sending in multiple tickets for the playtime I lost when they changed to OW2. They simply couldn’t locate it.

“We’ve dropped the “2” from Overwatch’s title and the reason ties deeply into our philosophy about the universe and game going forward.”

aaron, nobody belives you, just accept overwatch 2 is a huge failure and you were responsible of it, you failed to do the PVE and a lot of other things you, not jeff, you, promised

“After we pivoted away from PvE content, it took some time for us to find our footing and refocus on what we truly wanted Overwatch to be: a compelling, engaging FPS title all about core competitive PvP experiences”

so the complete opposite of what overwatch was meant to be, you destroyed original jeff vision

This is all I wanted from OW. Thank you so much for waking up and realizing that this is the right way to do things. More heroes, more LORE focus, modernization and more excitement. Cant wait for the next season.
