Remove the ability for everyone in the lobby to see how many votes a map gets. A player can see the map they chose, but they won’t see what everyone else chooses.
This would eliminate some of the issue with voting as well, since some players tend to vote whatever the majority vote, instead of what they may have wanted.
Yes, yes and yes to the Sombra, Hog and Weaver reworks but the majority map voting change? That’s concerning. There’s some great maps that I never get to play because of how people currently vote.
I sometimes do that… When all three maps suck. I just pick whichever one my team likes because at least SOMEONE wants to be there. Cannot wait for random vote to save us.
But cool. Bending the knee to the people who whined about map voting.
“We’ve all seen those screenshots where nine people in the lobby choose King’s Row and one lone outlier brings the match elsewhere. Now, if a map wins by a certain undeniable majority, we’ll make it the winner. We don’t want to entirely remove the joy of variety, but when most of the lobby wants something, we want to honor that.” - Escort / Hybrid only forever, I guess.
Next, we had Reaper’s Dire Triggers. We felt the addition of a long-range volley into his base kit was a necessary upgrade that justified the use of another input.
After, what, 3-4 years? We finally get the Reaper rework. I have a funny feeling his old Major perk will be coming back, but I’m praying that they go with something different.
I’m also expecting massive nerfs, so I’m going to withhold my praise until I know it’s not just another Monkey’s Paw situation that they just love to do to Reaper.
An extremely early shortlist for us (that’s subject to change) includes Sombra, Lifeweaver, and Roadhog.
Shocker. If Reaper didn’t get Dire Triggers, I would’ve uninstalled after reading this.
There will also be icons to let you know if you’re playing Attack or Defense during the map voting phase. This isn’t a huge deal for Competitive modes, but if you’re in Quick Play, it can definitely affect which map you want to play.
I always thought this was a secret system, but I’m glad to know that it actually did exist. I will give you props for this as it’s something that’s been a huge hindrance when it comes to enjoying quickplay.
“Longtime Overwatch players may remember the post-match voting cards we used to have. As fun as it was to earn a gold medal for spending the most time on the payload, other systems took priority over the past few years. But we felt something was missing with our current post-match flow. It didn’t offer space or time to breathe, nonetheless socialize—especially on console.
We’re so excited that a version of this system is returning in Season 2 with Post-Match Accolades. After a match, you’ll be taken to a fully-3D landing page to vote for an MVP and engage in (reasonable) banter”
WAIT POST GAME BANTER IS BACK AND THE VOTING CARDS? FINALLY!
Sure, but again, how does one communicate that having Widowmaker, Baptiste, or Hanzo on that Petal Platform is good for them and their team? And how do you get Lifeweaver to know where to put the platform in a spot where those heroes can utilize it to their advantage, should they choose to do so?
In regard to the map voting change: “We don’t want to entirely remove the joy of variety”
I hope you realize by making this change, you are making it so we see much less variety, right? The amount of times 80% of people vote for one map is disappointing. The wider map voting population isn’t in the map voting for variety, they want familiarity.
Go back, and try again. Or just give us random maps back. No choices.
This is basic “high ground good” game knowledge. And it’s surface level platform use tbh. Again, I’m not sure what the point you’re making is? Platform is his core ability. I’m not confident that the devs know that. I’m worried they’ll remove it or something.
