Director’s Take – Building on Feedback

Keller pretending to listen to player feedback is the new ‘What you guys don’t have phones?’.

All negative feedback he says is review bombing. Listen to that or he needs to be replaced. Seriously.

Don’t use Kotick as a patsy and then continue to do the same thing but worse. You’re lowering the skill required for the game to be predatory and get mroe kids playing so they get their parents to buy them stuff because you’re trying to make that fortnite money.

Every single post on every social media outlet is negative and you have addressed nothing that actually matters.

Keller is a fitting family name because he’s definitely deaf and blind.

The biggest issues we’re still experiencing is two fold isn’t even a balancing issue.

Being held hostage in lobbies. You can’t leave without being penalized. Which for rank, fine I get that, some people are jerks and all you can do is report them. But there’s nothing you can do to get that SR back because of someone else’s bad behavior.

But Quick play though? If you want to prevent people from leaving so frequently please PLEASE tackle the rampant smurfing issue. I can’t tell you how many times we get smurfs and cheaters still running rampant in quick play with trigger bots. It’s not fun to be thrown into a lobby of smurfs that just harass you and make you want to quit the game over all. You can’t leave because if it happens too often then you get banned. So what then? Punish the players for not wanting to suffer through lobbies of smurfs/cheaters?

There has to be a better way to handle it than to just report them because the person reporting them is just being punished to suffer through bad experiences and bad games over all.

I understand everything with your layoffs is not your fault, that’s executives and corporate’s decision which is way outside of your perimeters. But still, I’m hoping you’re not just watching streamers and listening to your whale players. The feedback of your every day playerbase matters too!

Quickplay Hacked is dramatically better testing data, and community feedback.

As noted by Overwatch teams’s Senior Systems Designer, Gavin Winters:

Gavin Winters: Yeah, experimental isn’t really a good way for us to test things, because most players never try it.

I mean community has shown it overwhelmingly prefers RQ and has for years.

Literally only top 0.1% of players who’ve been playing the game 10 hours a day for the past 6 years lol. The VAST majority of players have probably 0-5 gold guns

Blizzard should release these numbers, it’d give more insight into why they’re making these decisions.

Bro wants to blame playerbase when this patch fails :joy:

Guys we did what you wanted it just didn’t work out :face_with_peeking_eye:

Literally just turn Open Queue into 6v6

Could even do 6v6 specific balance changes.

And then 6v6 fanatics can focus on popularizing that mode, instead of trying to sabotage Role Queue.

Tbh it’s probably just something they’re pretending the community desperately wants to justify more money grubbing. If they put the numbers out it would almost certainly refute their claims

As a support main myself the issue of “support is too weak” in season 1 mostly boiled down to skill issue. Most support players hadn’t adapted to the shift and didn’t know how to play properly, now the overall playerbase is alot better in the game and brig is in a much better place which makes her very good against dive

I think a lot of people don’t know how things are priced with Valorant, Apex, Fortnite, CS2, Call of Duty etc.

Or that a massive chunk of all videogame revenues is just microtransactions and subscriptions.

Like people are expecting 10 years old business models to still be relevant.

Crazy you people still try to pretend that you listen, like you arent going to get clowned on.

You wanna get community feedback? Put up a poll on the official OW twitter for a week asking for feedback on the return of 6v6 or staying 5v5 like you did for QP Hacked and youll see feedback youd never dare listen to.

I understand that and I’m not one to complain about the prices of microtransactions. I’m saying I don’t think the currency changes are because the community wanted it, but rather it’s an additional way for the game to make money.

TBH, look at it this way. It promotes people behaving themselves in ranked more. And to play more actively.

Which is a big benefit to reducing how frustrating the game is, and gives a new marketing gimmick that’s visual obvious, so it can more likely pull in new players.

But for real, it’s a digital item skin, purchased with monopoly money, where you can’t even buy said funny money with real money. And people act like that’s gonna bring the downfall of the gaming industry.

They are following the feedback by not reading the feedback and just doing whatever they want to make a worse game. Im sorry but OW2 has the WORST matchmaking of any game ive ever played, and ive been playing online since 1999.
Heard it sooo many times, oh we’re listening… yas are soo full of tacobell the after smell tells the truth.

No ones saying that? I never disagreed with the move, just pointed out that their given reasoning is most likely a lie. Idk what you’re arguing with me about

You ate them up, lmao.

Hi Blizzard,

In the interests of making a great game together I would like to suggest that you provide information regarding how a player’s comp stats on individual heroes compare to other players of their current rank. For example, this season I have climbed to Bronze 1 on Support and I can compare my stats for Ana to my Season 6 stats when I did not climb.

The stats are similar but what stands out is that I achieved more healing/10mins this season (8486 vs 7676). I realise that correlation is not causation, but this is still useful information for me as I try to reach the lofty heights of Silver 5.

In service of this goal, I would also like to be able to compare my stats to other Ana players in Bronze 1 to get a sense of my strengths and weakness relative to the opponents I’m likely to be facing.

If you could incorporate this functionality into Overwatch at some point in the future, I would greatly appreciate it.

Many Thanks,
OldTimer1976

Okay well, the #1 feedback you’re always given is to go back to 6v6. Instead, you’re quadrupling down on the 5v5 + RQ mistake? Baffling.

To be fair I’m kinda tired after pulling an all nighter for work.
