Took long enough to get her OW1 neutral damage back, if it was at the cost of losing Opportunist, I’m fine with that. Generally all of the weapon changes are going to make her feel a lot smoother to use.
0.1s doesn’t sound like a big difference, but this will be really nice.
Forcing bad Sombra players to commit to bad engagements is great. Good Sombra players already know how to use Translocator to get out in the moment or to get a more advantageous position when in an engagement.
Things I DO NOT like:
I REALLY hate the idea of Stealth on passive for literally every reason. Having it be something you can’t manually activate is going to feel so bad. Main reasons being if the activation timer is too long, then it just ruins her ability to disengage safely. If the activation timer is too short, then it could potentially ruin any engagements. Those were just my INITIAL reactions to this change but tacking on the movement speed reduction is so much worse especially when she’s still going to have the same detection radius as before.
EMP was already nerfed by 15% on ult charge cost. Albeit she didn’t gain 0.5dmg per bullet and a skillshot DoT ability(still confused on why she needed a simple DoT ability), but it did make a significant difference to her ult economy. Hoping this doesn’t do the same thing. The health % damage nerf just sounds unnecessary and feels like it was done purely because of Virus, but assuming that’s a single target ability with no AoE, then you’d literally be dumping a CD ability and an ultimate just to MAYBE secure one kill on a squishy assuming they don’t get 1) Cleansed. 2) Burst healed. 3) Peeled for.
I’m not gonna lie when I say I’m not looking forward to this rework as it ultimately feels like a net nerf on paper rather than a genuine shift of power in her kit. Virus doesn’t seem interesting or powerful enough to warrant shoving Stealth into a jank passive ability, and that’s really my main issue with the rework. Stealth on passive just doesn’t sound fun to play with or play against.
The duration is 4 seconds. So at bar Minimum it will be probably 6 second cooldown to synch with hack cooldown, knowing blizzard it will be 8 or 10 seconds
Translocator on a short cooldown, active usage mid-combat
Stealth being useful mid-combat
Hack being useful mid-combat
What Sombra mains got:
Translocator has less control than ever before, and you can no longer use it for any kind of clever mobility plays because you have to be a fixed distance from where you want to go at all times
– RIP to using translocator i-frames to dodge d.va bombs and Tracer sticks
Stealth got turbo-nerfed into this weird “out of combat only” effect that makes it basically useless since the only time you’d be invisible is when enemies can’t see you anyway
Hack still garbo mid-fight and the silence effect wasn’t touched despite being super-nerfed into the ground in OW2
A weird, slightly worse version of Ashe’s dynamite that requires you to use hack to get peak value from it
What Sombra mains wanted: Something which was going to be viable long term.
What Sombra mains got: Something which can’t be balanced so it won’t either be awful to play or awful to play against, so we will end up in the rework waiting lounge for the next 9 months after a brief time of being viable.
I mean, I feel for the designers, it is hard hero to get a working setup for, but I feel this isn’t going to be it.
If she survives the silence, yes. Personally, I think throwing Virus at Kiriko, to make her burn Suzu is a pretty good exchange.
Genji still has double jump, wall climb, and reflect with a faster base speed to keep himself alive and escape with. It’s also a lot harder to whiff dash than it is to whiff a translocator throw.
I didn’t even think about this tbh and now I’m starting to hate this change.
Just imagine misjudging your Translocator throw and BARELY tossing it off the map. Not only can you not activate Translocator early to prevent this, but you literally have no way to stop yourself from dying once you’ve pressed that keybind lol
The only thing I can see making this ability super useful is if it will still TP you even if you’ve been stunned, but I’m not expecting that interaction to be there at all.
Right, so they will have to buff her to viable and she will be CRAZY bad to play against. So they will have to nerf her down and put her in the “waiting for a rework lounge”
It is going to be ugly, and Blizzard will be forced to rework again…
There is space for a character like that… I just wish it wasn’t Sombra.
It’s wild how we keep posting the same “make these changes for Sombra and the problem will go away” posts and they keep making completely random and unwanted changes instead. Can’t wait for rework #5, which will turn hack into an ability that makes the target’s footsteps into clown honk noises for 3 seconds and translocator has a 75% chance to kill you when you teleport.
