Play a third and fourth game.
Mayhaps then you will realise that game mechanics are like… “tools”?
Not many mechanics are actually “owned.”

Most of it is like “hey, this is stuff you can use in your video game. You should try and use it in cool new ways.”

It would be like saying any book about wizards released after Harry Potter is ripping of JK Rowling, even though she didn’t invent the concept of wizards.

Reasonable enough, but I find that PVZGW2 is actually a rip off of Big Rigs Over the Road Racing, because Crazy Dave’s van.

I loved peashooter… And sunflower I think, I think she could root herself and use a death beam or something.

I wish that game was still relevant…

It’s not really a copy of tf2 more like inspired. They are much different games, at least in my eye.

Let’s look at the “similarities”

  • Both have a soldier

  • Both have an engineer

  • Both have a character who heals

  • Both have a character who is a sniper

  • Both have a character who uses fire

  • Both have a domination gamemode and an attack/defend gamemode

It is disgusting how much tf2 copied from pvzgw2

Wait your comment confuses me now. I’m not even talking about garden watfare, but it’s impossible for tf2 to copy that since tf2 came out many years before that. I’m saying overwatch was inspired by tf2, for sure but not a straight copy, cause we got multiple healers, classes only have a select set of weapons, you can’t have multiple of the same character with the exception of no limits. They’re multiple “heavy” roles. Just cause they’re similar doesn’t mean they are clones. Like I said they took some inspiration and for sure overwatch wouldn’t exist without tf2, at least in the way it is now.

You took my comparison from yesterday and made a neat post about it.
I said I only play with my niece but we never pick the sunflower, I did once but I remember not liking the healing stream.

I know GW2 was released before Overwatch (in February 2016). I played Plants Vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 before I got into Overwatch, but I didn’t recognize these similarities until now.

Rose=Sombra/Symmetra because she can turn zombies into goats/hack them but also make a teleporter (in Herbal Assault) and turrets
Scientist=Ana/Moira because he can Warp/Fade as moira, and use Sticky Explody Balls/Biotic Grenades as Ana.
As for the Chomper and Super Brainz, I’m not exactly sure.

I don’t play Team Fortress 2, but in your opinion, is TF2 more like PVZ or more like OW?

I’d say it’s more similar to PvZ than overwatch. Mainly because of the number of characters that can do something. For example there are 6 different healers in overwatch but only one healer in pvz (per side) and tf2. In overwatch each character focuses a lot more on one specific part of a role while in tf2 and pvz each character has a bit of multiple overwatch characters in their abilities and weapons
