Ashe, Soldier, and Widow are better picks than McCree most of the time. I believe McCree is good in certain situations, and if you pick him in those situations you’ll have a better chance to win than with other hitscans. Assuming, you’re equally skilled on said hitscan heroes. McCree’s pick rate is higher than Pharah’s, but Pharah has a higher win rate. I think that if more players used McCree when he was appropriate to use like Pharah. He would have a better win rate. Maybe, there are more McCree one tricks than Pharah one tricks.
Noted. Sorry If it read contrary to what you just said.
True, but sometimes that’s better than running away like you would do on soldier or Ashe.
This is what I meant. In games where I’m having a lot of trouble with flankers and divers, I choose McCree.
That’s a lot of maybes. Like I said, the numbers state that McCree loses more than he wins and compared wiht other heroes he is the worst in that case.
Technically Soldier doesn’t need to run, Ashe does, she can’t really fight a Winston head on, but Soldier has his heal which basically negates Winston’s damage and he also has a lot of damage output.
Perhaps, but that is what I mean when I say niche and even then the hero can be either good or bad at their niche, look at Sym and Torb, they are niche but their winrates are great, because they are good in their niches. McCree, not so much.
You didn’t really understood what I mean, or perhaps you don’t want to, since I’m pretty sure you are trolling by now. Doesn’t really matter.
The only buff that really made him be able to compete in his whole history was the fire rate buff and even then he was still lacking. That is why there was no real argument for nerfing him, he needed buffs. That whole patch was a huge mistake and only made bad heroes worse, not only McCree and they are going to regret it eventually that I have no doubt, McCree is just the biggest stain right now.
I’m an OG mccree main, though I have not mained him for around 18 seasons now, I mained him in the early years of ow. I prefer this McCree because it’s more familiar and feels much better to me, but of course the game has changed a lot since the old days and this is only my opinion.
McCree is not trash. He can do stuff that no other hero can, giving him a nice niche (while still allowing him to be played as a main hero). Noone can deal with flankers like him, which is also why he is still used extensively in GM ranks, just like he was the last time he had this, his original Rate of Fire.
He was for a short time the best mid / shortrange DPS hitscan hero. Got one nerf very fast to his firerate bcs it was broken af. Ashe got overbuffed and became the best DPS in the game then. McCree still got played, doesnt change the fact that his firerate was broken.
Conclusion: Ashe was the most broken hero in the game. Genji made an appearance for a month, became S-tier and got nerfed pretty fast again. McCree got nerfed 3 times while Ashe got 2 nerfs in 5-6months. Ashe reigns still as the best midrange with farrange capability DPS with an overloaded kit which makes her skill ceiling low. McCree cannot compete on midrange against her.
To OP: His firerate was broken, the nerf was needed and warranted. He certainly could use 1-2 QoL buffs like smaller hitbox, or maybe 10% more HP so his survivability goes up a bit. Issue is: Hitscans are currently way better then projectile. I think its a better idea to bring other competitors on his designated role to a more down to earth balance, especially Ashe, before buffing mcCree to the heaven, so he gets nerfed in a month again.
His flashbang buff made him again a more stable pick against flankers though, although its Genji and Doom only. Tracer can kill way easier McCree with her falloff damage and can operate outside of his flashbang range.
It wasn’t, there is not a single argument to support that claim, and there is a lot to support that it wasn’t, given that he was underperforming significantly, and now that they took it away he is performing way worse than before.
It’s not “bad” but it sure as hell isnt good either. Its mediocre at best. Bad range, unreliable hitbox, and literally mccrees only self defense measure. If you bait it out he pretty much just dies for free against certain characters.
But they won’t. They already put it on experimental then pushed it to live. They did this even despite the community saying “Umm no??” So its obvious they don’t give a damn and were gonna revert it regardless of what we thought. They arent gonna put it back.
Let’s not. There are a variety of things we can try out that will help McCree without lazily demanding his gun be re-crept. Damage, overall, needs toning down, not up. Perhaps we ought to start by making his hitbox more reflective of his actual character size, and maybe revert the recent distance buff to Roll but give it some i-Frames so you can Dark Souls your way past big damage.
No he doesn’t. Learn to land your shots and he is no way dead just because it got baited.
I assume you mean Tracer because very few other heroes can really bait it. Tracer is so brittle with her 150 health, that just one bodyshot puts her in mortal danger.
You can win many Tracer duels, simply with bodyshots. You don’t even need to land those headshots if you are consistent enough with bodyshots.
