Devs say more Mercy like supports coming

Disagree massively. Mercy pocketing anyone but maybe a tank is one of the hardest things to kill through.

Trying to kill a soldier or pharah while they are pocketed is basically GG

I personally don’t understand this part. Positioning is much more important for those pretty immobile characters, and the rez in a safe situations like behind the wall(this is a good decision) doesn’t require any skill, and rez in a dangerous situations is just a skill check for the enemies. When the rez succeeds in a dangerous situations, it’s not mercy was good, but the enemies were bad or unlucky.

Eternal ban? That speaks a lot about your characters.

When citing Mercy as an example, I hope they mean making more supports that rely on good positioning and resource management. I hope they don’t plan on making more supports who can only utilize one ability at a time or have minimal direct offensive abilities.

She’s the only support I don’t play. I don’t enjoy her playstyle at all. Sorry Mercy mains.

Maybe make it so she heals allies around her heal target at half the healing rate.

Winston + Genji + Sombra + Lucio destroy a Soldier even when he’s pocketted. Dive is meta in OW2, so Mercy pockets can’t stay alive at all.

Before dive became popular in the beta she was doing fine.

Oh so when its a 4v2 is when you can actually kill the target mercy is healing

Great design

You’re shifting the discussion away from what it was because of your hate of Mercy

Again 450+ hours says otherwise

Unless you think i played a hero i hate for that long

I dont hate mercy

She
Is
Badly
Designed

She is a support who relies on other people in a game based around solo playmaking and doing your own thing.

Low aim isn’t inherently bad, but this:

Goodman further stated these heroes would be more focused on their own team

is a little concerning. This leads to a healbot mentality in the playerbase while also being a nightmare to balance.

Your hours don’t matter when your attitude states so clearly otherwise. You literally just derailed a discussion about Mercy’s state of balance to complain and hate on her soooo :woman_shrugging:t2:

Criticism =/= hate

Tyvm

You wanna know why ana is in every game? Because she does things. She makes plays. Carries games with sleep dart and nade.

You say the meta is dive. So why is mercy not played? Mercy is supposed to be good in dive. She has the mobility to engage with the team.

You wanna know why mercy is still bad? Even in a meta she should be good in. because she cant do anything herself. Has no carry potential. Has no playmaking capabilities.

Look at what they are doing to moira and what they said about her in that blog post. That is mercy but more so

Mercy cant do anything herself. She has to rely on her team for
Every
Single
Part
Of
Her
Kit.

To be fair this was not originally a discussion of Mercy’s state of balance. OP was asking how people felt about more Mercy-ish support heroes.

We really don’t need more low impact support heroes that are just sort of existing hoping their team does things.

This isn’t criticism. It’s a bad faith lie that’s clearly inspired by a hatred of the hero.

Appeal to popularity isn’t a good idea when Mercy is one of the most popular supports in the game as well.

She’s not good in most dive metas. She’s a pretty clear target during dive meta if she follows her team. She’s only good in certain dive metas for specific synergies.

This isn’t how Mercy plays.

Yes it is

Mercy has no impact and she just sits there pocketing people.

The game is 4v5 when she is on the team.

She needs to do more. More things. Not just hold buttons and pray

Brig does take more skill and a lot more game sense to get value

Mercys kit is archaic given the newer supports abilities. She’s low risk and low impact.

Im not talking about their popularity. Im talking about how strong they are

Ana is strong because she is her own hero and does her own things. Can make her own plays and carry games

Mercy cannot. She relies on her team fkr her mobility. She relies on her team for her damage. She relies on her team for everything. All of her abilities need her team to be there. Every one of them. Doesnt that scream red flag???

We are in a game being made for solo play. Where individual impact matters. A hero who relies on everyone else doesn’t work. Mercy doesnt fit into that world

Finally we always needed more. Hated that mercy was the only pacifist hero.

It’s exactly how Mercy plays. You avoid the other team and combat as a whole outside of the odd Battle Mercy in Valk.

If the person you are boosting does not land their shots, you lose that encounter. Your inputs are secondary. We don’t need more supports that exist hoping the people on their team make plays/land shots.
