The thing is, I am also a high plat-Diamond player and went on my alt account that’s placed really low and expected to help a real bronze player but alas. I’m surprised he didn’t say anything to me when I killed him a couple of times.
I told him in chat “There is no way you’re in bronze, you’ve got really good aim”
He told me he had alot of ping lmao to make it even worse after him winning me. Making me think he’s bronze and playing really well.
When I realized he was fine on his own, I told him I had to go and just left. After leaving, he started the lfg again “Bronze Duo” Maybe he wants to boost bronze players?
No idea, but the 1v1 is kind of stupid yeah, but again the main point is competitive so it’s not like he was going to spend the entire day 1v1’ing people.
But yeah everytime we were searching for a game, he always started a 1v1 session.
Also he was having trouble in one competitive game and ended up as a draw so not sure. It’s just hard to tell, that game he wasn’t dominating but in the next he was. So I really don’t know what to think.
Infact, I do have the match where we ended up as a draw, here.

I’m a bronze and I’m mechanically better than my plat friend. 1v1 I will win with a 10 kill lead typically.
He had a good day, you had a bad day.
As a (currently) ±3800 player, on a good day I can beat 4500 players 1v1. On a bad day you might be wondering how I am even above plat.
Same with sr (on different accs) one day I went from 3500 to 4300. Another day I went from 3500 to 2800.
Besides 1 v 1 is different than 6 v 6. Especially at lower levels I would say beeing really good at 1 v 1s is hindering your ability. Youre getting cocky, going into fights you most likely will lose, usually you also dont learn from your mistakes, etc…
On top of that hitboxes and animations are quite important to learn, but you really only learn a selected few from 1 v 1s.
For example there are a lot widow hs only grinders, who will basicly destroy most gms in a widow 1 v 1 - but cant hit anything else. Just join a couple of lobbies - I often see hardstuck golds/plats (like 10s+) who destroy not only me, but also a couple of my friends sitting at 4200-4400.

I mean, that is fact. I have my original account I learned on, and thanks the level bias in the game among other things, its a nightmare to pull up. Create several alt accounts, they all sit 500-1000 SR higher depending on account and role… its bs. However…
With OW 2 is a likely MMR / SR reset as part of the “newness” factor they are trying to instill… thank God.
Right, I never go into 1v1s myself, Infact I despise 1v1s.
I’m usually a competitive grinder and the only thing I play to improve my aim is Tryhard FFA.
I actually didn’t like the idea of a 1v1 with this person so was a bit uncomfortable in the beginning when he booted it up while we were searching for a competitive game.
I expected him to struggle and needed help considering he was bronze and he created an LFG of “a bronze looking to duo with someone”, but in the end, he was a smurf as well and played well if you look at the Illios replay. He completely dominated the enemy team.
