That comix person has to be a Blizzard employee lol.
I wish!
No, I’m just a long time player that’s glad to see Blizzard finally doing something to get rid of the smurfs in Overwatch!
(Shame I had to wait until Overwatch 2 for that to happen!)
“don’t you guys have phones?”
again?!
And let’s not forget it has to be a phone with one of the specific networks/plans Blizzard approves of.
From “object of mockery” to “played straight” to “amplified”
wait what? did i miss that?
that’s so ridiculously idiotic.
Also, browsing through the article… are they gonna spy on us? seems like the mic is always on for them
Who is talking about levels?
I think all these changes are great! Thanks for sharing great to see a cross-functional team with this focus - keep up the good work!
Your quote is referring to levels not being displayed anymore along with your rank.
You know, like when people look at your rank and level and poke fun at it?
Read the entire statement and maybe it will make sense.
Time to enjoy getting banned, because stupid AI mistranscribed your words.
But I don’t see anything about mic being constantly on.
It’s possible that it is, but it’s more likely that it gets turned on from their end when you get reported or something.
Maybe you read it.
and Competitive skill tiers will no longer be displayed before each Competitive match.
Also nobody throws matches because someone’s level.
More like safespace initiative
Huge column of text talking about “Disruptive behavior” but No definition of exactly what disruptive behavior is.
Appears to be highly related to voice chat ??!?? So we are actually talking about Disruptive chat rather than disruptive “behaviour”
So we are actually talking about players using “offensive” words or phrases
Then the old cliche question must arise.
“Who defines what offensive is”
Usually the people who are offended by everything.
I remember a time when “offensive chat” was half the fun of online games. If you are not interested you can just mute people or make a private party. I.e you can curate your own environment.
It is this kind of corporate sponsored censorship that is killing gaming and also kling society.
I worry you are on the verge of destroying any good left in overwatch.
Instead of banning people for offensive chat or “behaviour”.
Why not just have separate chat lobbies. 1 for people who are not offended by chat and those that want a “safe space”
Also. SMS protection? More like SMS control. Yet another barrier to players
they don’t want their game with tons of younger people playing it to be filled with hate like those other games you say. sure, it’s edgy and hilarious dude, but that kind of stuff can imprint on those younger players and cause a feedback loop of ~ le offensive~ insults and threats. more bandaids for larger problems.
there is no need for separate chat lobbies, just get a hold of your sailor’s mouth!
I know it may be difficult to read 2 sentences and put them together…
"This means Portrait Borders that symbolize player level are going away from all game modes in Overwatch 2, and Competitive skill tiers will no longer be displayed before each Competitive match. We found this to be a pain point for Competitive as some players were passing judgement on their teammates before the match began, causing either explicit or implicit bias to occur immediately. "
This change was made to reduce toxicity and judgement. It has nothing to do with matchmaking. I guarantee you there are people judging your rank based on your level and it affects your gameplay experience.
How many times I have to say that I wasn’t talking about the levels but the ranks?
Also when you are playing comp you should be matched with the same rank anyway so there shouldn’t be toxicity rank wise if the matchmaking is actually doing its job.
Exactly my point. You are going to be playing with players in your own rank, so if they show you the other players ranks or not is irrelevant. Seeing others players ranks before or during a match doesn’t matter.
But what the developers were saying is that the COMBINATION of rank and levels often leads to players being mistreated.
This has nothing to do with hiding matchmaking. You completely missed the point the developers were making and came up your own theory on matchmaking tomfoolery??
Only took the monetary value of smurfs being removed to make them do it.
Shiate move blizzard SHiate move… Kill your IP even more
We should be teaching children how to not take offense rather than teaching them to rat out a fellow player for uttering the latest deemed wrong speak.
