It would be a shame if someone were to disconnect the wifi to his computer…
Aw, once I identified the issue I just asked nicely for him to stop. And that was with our old internet connection, the current one is a mile wide and someone can stream 4k with nary a hiccup (well, before covid, now it adds 5-10 ping sometimes).
i have played and improved at 160 ms for most of the games life, only recently got 50-60 ms connection.
at 90 ms the differences are minimal, the only issues would be stuff like doom jumps of punch and mercy super jump would require insane early timing.
a few overwatch pros too played at 160 ms mostly till they joined teams.
daffran used to play on 120ms on na, EQO played on laptop with high ping etc.
You should setup your router to cap their upload/download limit so they don’t use as much as they can when they do an action like that.
Similar to setting a download limit on downloads/updates on Steam/Battle.net so you can still stream and do other things while it’s going.
Otherwise, as soon as they initiate a transfer it’ll use as much of your household bandwidth as it can to get the job done as fast as it can.
Had problems like the OP noted a few months ago, and figured out it was a connection problem between me and server. Tried local modem resets, but the problem persisted. I had to get my ISP to do a full modem reset and issue a fresh IP. Smooth sailing since then.
It was really easy with my ISP because they had automated options to do this without involving a help desk. YMMV
We have some QOS going now but it doesn’t completely fix the issue. Thankfully we also got a much higher bandwidth connection too. Ping is still bad though.
It’s only a couple hops. Local Spectrum ISP to trans-pacific, into LA. Not nearly as bad as EU and other countries.
Wait, WyomingMyst lives in Wyoming? What a shocker!
For the moment, with me graduating from college, the future is uncertain.
University of Wyoming? That’s where I did my undergrad.
i mean, it is farm country
