Nah, I love it. One of the only anime I respect on a relatively short list because I hate anime.

Yeah, I’m pretty disappointed. This is exactly why I haven’t been excited for these collabs; they’d eventually just turn this game into Fortnite.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love good faux franchise stuff, like Genji’s ‘Sentai’ and ‘Genjiman’ skins or the ‘Starwatch’ event/skins. I’m even fine with all of the other Blizzard franchise skins, but I don’t want these collab skins leaning too far as to portray their specific character.

Mind you, we haven’t even seen the skins on the character models. The skins could very well be portrayed around the hero’s original character.

If you don’t like the skins and it doesn’t fit into your perfect vision of OW then don’t buy them, simple. They are still going to have their base model for appearance most likely other than Rein and Hammond which is a joke if you want to “portray” their character as there are MANY skins in which a hero does not fit into their original portrayal. Such as Azmodan Hammond, Draugr/Raynhardt/Minotaur/Heaven’s Devil for Rein, Tyrande Sym, Illidan Genji, etc the list can go on and on.

At the end of the day there are MANY skins in which stray from a hero’s identity or the story of OW itself and yet we have had NO problems as players to identify them in game and the skins do not take anything away from the characters or their stories. Literally all OW2 collab events have used the base character model to go off of to make it so that they were not “portrayed” as being X person, and the collab inspiration stayed true to the hero the skin is made for. Literally to me it is like if the hero is just wearing a costume since none of their facial features are really change.

One Punch Man:

  • Saitama Doom, literally an amazing skin and no major changes to the character’s model
  • Genos Genji, literally an amazing skin and no major changes to the character’s model
  • Terrible Tornado Kiriko, literally an amazing skin and no major changes to the character’s model
    -Mumen Rider Soldier, was an ok skin but it was free, there were still no major changes to the character’s model

Le Sserafim:

  • Antifragile Dazzle Dva, literally an amazing skin and no major changes to the character’s model
  • Antifragile Slay Star Sombra, literally an amazing skin and no major changes to the character’s model
  • Antifragile Traysi Tracer, literally an amazing skin and no major changes to the character’s model
  • Antifragile BB Brig, literally an amazing skin and no major changes to the character’s model

Gentle Monster:

  • Gentle Tokki Aqua/Fuchia Dva, Okay skins but no major changes to the character’s model

Like where is this loss of hero identity in any of these skins? They are all unique and very cool additions to this game. Not to mention, stuff like collabs is what makes players excited and nostalgic again. Once I saw the collab trailer I was literally so happy for the game and happy to talk about it with my friends. People just need to stop being so butthurt about a simple collab skin that they can choose whether or not to purchase. This isnt’t a regular thing like Fortnite, OW takes the time and effort to make sure collab skins are good to where they look nice and also don’t lose a hero’s identity.

or the mode just wont have supports lol

its possible they didnt show all the skins but its hard to imagine that

my guess is the hammy skin will be the free one and there may or may not be an event mode at all lol

Right, this is the only stipulation that may have this all be fine. I was just echoing Springey’s concern about how much Mauga will change to look like Jet. The trailer is stylized to the anime, so final product may be acceptable. I was just noting I’ve been worried about this slippery slope into a scenario where we could eventually have Master Chief or Samus in the game.

Not sure why you think this is brand damaging. The live action Netflix show was brand damaging, this not so much.
