I’m just stupid and bad, Lucioball requires the highest skillset in all of Overwatch. Only the best of the best succeed and t500 was exactly that. I just couldn’t understand the mechanics and technical side so I was just clapped and had a bad time. Way beyond me. No traditionally low ranked Overwatch players such as silver and gold even got close to that t500 in Lucioball.
Bring Copa back, Overwatch player base would go up by a million overnight.
You called it a garbage mode that feels horrible to play. If that’s you’re experience then fair enough - I disagree with ur premise and I’m entitled to make assumptions about it. Especially when you make sweeping remarks as u did.
I assume u either have high ping or ur not very good at it, because if u have decent ping (which as a baseline for how well it plays is a problem in itself that Blizzard caused and needs to fix) and know how to play, it plays rlly well.
The skill ceiling of LB is very high, actually. Not as high as the base game’s (obviously) but still there is loads of potential for sick shots - not that you’d know - assuming you haven’t seen some of the top players’ gameplay which isn’t a shot at u cause LB is very niche, but still u clearly just don’t know.
So yes, I assume you weren’t that great at the mode to say it feels horrible, was I wrong about these assumptions about u or not?
Lucio Ball has been around a long while.
I’ve wanted to like it several times.
Didn’t happen.
Not ognna lie, did only play Volley ball like 3 times before I figured it wasn’t worth trying. (Because at least knock off rocket league was fun for the first year or so)
If 100% of the OW playerbase was represented as 2 hands (10 fingers)
Lucio Ball players would be lucky to get a full finger.
There’s not that many of you. You are wrong.
Nope, your assesment is perfect. If only Rocket League could have such depth and skill ceiling too. Then again, I might not like it then as it’d be too hard for me and feel horrible on my broken, budget mobile connection. Never had t500, grandmaster, grand champ or played for a top10 ladder ESL EU eSports team in all my life. I can only dream of such heights.
Stadium has worse queue times than lucioball ever did - by a country mile, lucioball has more players than you think. A lot of people play lucioball, a lot of those I wouldn’t consider to be ‘lucioball players’ if u get what I mean, so I can’t agree with u here. Based on outright lucioball players, players who only come back for summer games, we wouldn’t fill a top 500 leaderboard - i’m not gonna tell outright lies. But if copa came back the leaderboard would easily be full as they used to be, it’s not even close. And casual players also exist that would play so…
I’d say maybe 1.5 fingers instead of <half?
This post got made because they suddenly removed a popular mode that some people did enjoy. Does the fact there are so many other threads wanting summer games not register to you??
your sarcasm is exhausting. Maybe I am wrong about u specifically, though.
It was not sudden, the signs were all there.
But because you were one of the few people enjoying it, you didn’t notice as much (I’m sure you did notice repeat names after a time, that’s not great)
Ofc, the number one xbox player got his smurf to number 2 in 2020. After the console pools were merged in 2021 tho I can’t say I saw any repeat names, though I didn’t play as much that year so I could very easily be wrong, I also wasn’t really looking below the top 100/150 but even then, repeat names aren’t uncommon. In the base game I remember in open queue some ball main got number 1 and 2 for a while a few seasons back. Does this mean they going to remove Open queue? Cause now we aren’t even just talking about just removing the competetive version, they’ve gone and removed the whole mode lmao
Copa Lucioball wouldn’t return next season unfortunately Only normal Lucioball and Remix version.

I’m conflicted about it. At first I hated it, and in some ways I still do, but I’ve found it to be easier to ult but idk, I’d rather go back to first person probably tbh
Ult wallriding is literally the only case you could make where the perspective has any advantage at all and even then it’s debatable because of how much harder distance is to gauge.
It is a massive hindrance in general. I already gave my two cents in my own thread about it. Nothing you see as straight is actually straight and your body is now blocking your view in common situations. You also never shoot directly where the reticle is pointing. It just feels terrible and doesn’t make sense.
It’s like they said “hey articles were saying “lucioball is back” when Rivals made their mode so let’s do the same to them” and just shipped it without ever shooting a ball.
In truth, when I read the notes about the perspective and they used the word “should”, that was an immediate red flag that I initially passed off as me being a pessimist. How wrong I was for doubting myself. We’ve been through this kind of stuff enough to know better by now.
We waited a year for this. Our only hope is that they fix it within the week and at least enable the option to switch.
I see no reason why we can’t switch, stadium has the option. I genuinely think this is simply another oversight by blizzard. Having said that, I am now actively hitting better clips than I was in first person - a couple of ult foxys on a controller (although general play is much harder still). I hope they bring first person with the actual event
Since the shoulder change hotkey works, you could assume first person being toggleable but having no effect is a bug and not a feature. The only benefit of the doubt they get in this regard is that they fixed the unhittable ball two years ago. Else having issues at the start of a lucioball season that go unacknowledged and unactioned is way more common than it should ever be.
The crux of the issue and why moderately easier ults is not a good trade. I feel like I’m playing against the game as much as the players sometimes.
If the pros outweighed or even came close to matching the cons my sentiment would be much different. Just let me switch perspectives when/if I want.
Playing with it more I’m liking it less and less instead of getting used to anything.
50% FOV nothing is actually straight and my reticle just doesn’t matter. Distancing is still off and Lucio is blocking like 20% of my screen’s total real-estate.
90% FOV I feel like I’m using a fishbowl lens because the camera is constantly moving in and out with the walls, which dashes any hopes of getting fully used to distance and spacing because your perception of it is constantly being changed against your will.
You can also switch your shoulder view while wall riding just by changing your aim. So we’re going to be constantly fighting with that too.
No chance anyone at Blizzard played this. This is the result of them just trying make sure that they can say “we have that too” whenever it comes to a Rivals comparison. They flipped the “on” button for 3rd person and shipped it.
All because a terrible mode for Rivals got called “Lucioball” by some equally clueless individuals.
