Congrats, you gatekeeped me till i quit

time u could spent playing OW to improve ur skills :man_shrugging:

every rank has smurfs .system tries to push those smurfs out of the ranks asap so u cant blame a system thats doing its job fine. you said u arent in plat so that means ur in gold and below and in those ranks are smurfs yeah but mostly no GM smurfs unless they deranked. Which is a problem yes I agree.

u should see my gm games filled with cheaters. i would gladly take smurfs over obvious aimbotters any day

u dont have to play 1k it could be less it could be 500 or 300 or even 100 but whenever I see someone only having like 15 hours playtime a season then yeah.

Spoiler: they don’t.

Gold is the average rank and you can be there even if you play sparingly. If you wanna climb from gold tho you have to grind. And the more you grind the better you get. And the better you grind, the faster you get better. If you focus on the right aspects of the game to improve and fix your mistakes you will improve. Instead of playing all the heroes in your role play one at an extremely good level and two to flex if your pick is countered/ineffective.
That’s really it.
Oh, and unplug when you are tilted, it’s super damn important.

I’m not asking how to climb. I’m stating that matchmaking is questionable, offering a rational explanation as to how the results people observe occur, and suggesting that Blizzard either deny it or consider adjusting it.

I don’t want to climb for the sake of climbing, that would put me in games where I cannot be effective or pull my weight. I want fair and reasonable games at the range I belong, not to load into a game with 4 lv25-50s and guess which of them are smurfs and which are new while they either sandbag or demolish the other 8 players who belong in the SR range.

Yes that is the problem of ow matchmaking. Not that it doesn’t work it works but sometimes it takes too much time to place you to the rank you belong.

People are frustrated with one sided games because somebody deranked or lost too much SR and now is clearly overperforming and then opposite happens somebody on enemy team had a bad luck streak and there you are win win win., loss loss loss… and then you slowly gain SR (or MMR). Time sink. Sure you can learn something with one sided games but usually you don’t. I dont think a good matchmaking should produce so many losing and winning streaks.

There is also the luck factor. Matchmaking should reduce luck to a minimum. Not sure if it is succeeding in this regard with smurfs and new accounts.

I am sure somebody will point out the “research” projects of gms to go from bronze to gm. Yes they can climb pretty quick to diamond but then it slows and from diamond to gm is grind again even though they belong higher. Now imagine gold and platinum players they probably must start to grind at silver if somehow with a bad luck derank to that level.

A friend of mine has played and documented 1000 games with 3 different accounts each.

(A1=new account that has no negative reputation whatsoever. Play as good as you can
A2=play as good you can, high-XP account, bad reputation, banned several times
A3=play as bad as possible without getting reported, stay friendly, new account, no previous reports or bans)

In a nutshell: You get the best gaming experience if you don’t put in a lot of effort but remain friendly. As soon as you get reported or banned more often, you can throw away your account because this has an impact on matchmaking.
This confirms my initial assumptions about how the matchmaker works.

Entertainment is more important than measuring your gaming skills as accurately as possible. Blizzard doesn’t really benefit from you playing at the right rank, that’s just secondary.

Actually, it’s a well-known fact that Blizzard have a team of 11 former pro players always on duty in Blizzard HQ. Every time the system notices someone is winning too much or losing too much, they call those players, who will be given a random tag and a profile around the target, and the next match will feature those 11 players, who will rig the match so that this specific player will always win or lose depending on what the system tell them to do.

Anyone that deny that is just trying to defend Blizzard.

(/s just in case)

Do you still take competitive seriously guys? I can’t do it no more. Take my advice, if you’re SoloQ just play the game and enjoy it, but don’t take it too seriously, it will save your sanity.

The game was rigged day ONE when they announced SR, (as screwed system as it is), would be TEAM based!!! How in the eff do you think that’s not rigged right away!!! Everybody claiming otherwise is lying to themselves and it’s embarrassing.

^^^ This lol and it shows with everyone that has stopped streaming this pos and the viewership done on OWL. Game was always a POS in competitive and always will be with the rigged and broken SR system.

Well, I don’t think game is making me to lose on purpose. Problem with all these lost matches, is that I have no idea how good I am at the game since I am solo queuing. Like, having gold medals and still losing matches, I just don’t know what to think anymore. I don’t know what I have to change. I mean I can tell you trend of all lost matches:

  1. We are all fighting on the point. No one is dying and by some lucky shot I die first and then I am running back to the point and as soon as I am there, everyone dies in my team. Since I am DPS, i can’t do nothing there so I have to attempt to run back and hide until we regroup.
  2. Opponent Widow is winning the matches. I have to go Sombra because tanks don’t know who is WInston.
  3. I get Winston that can’t kill healers or ranged dps. Can’t clear Symmetra turrets. The very thing at which Winston thrives
  4. People can’t regroup as they move. They literally wait for everyone to pile up miles away, allowing enemy team to carelessly move the payload
  5. I kill one tank, I bring other down to 2% and it stays on 2% forever and no one can do a single shot to him, anywhere in the body.

Stuff like this and on top of that, I have to listen some deluded idiot that used 1 single ult, for which he spammed Ana to boost him, to trash talk me AFTER he used that ult. No thanks. This burned me out beyond imagination that I cannot even make a decision what to counter. I am just picking heroes in desperate attempts to do something because whole my team doesn’t do what other teams did that brought me to 2746 rating.

I don’t think I am going to play a game in which I cannot know for sure where is my skill at.

20%??? I have 43% win rate and i’m <500

Jeff needs to step down from the game. He really does. Matchmaking is horrible and you should NEVER be teamed with anyone in placement matches that just bought the game if you are an experienced player. The devs and Jeff make the absolute worse decisions and it’s not good for share holders.

Riot Games already stated that Project A is nothing like OW and better compared to CS:GO.

this forum is honestly just an echo chamber filled with superstitious silver-plat players whining.

Yes my friend, now like a horse you must chase this rotten carrot that blizzard dangle in front of you.

This is why I cannot stomach this stinky game, because I know I am to be spending time in matches which I have purposely been placed in to have maybe 30% chance of win. We can only look on to Project A and hope that this other gaming company (who is now ignoring my email) will not have a stinky matchmaker.

If you pray for anything you are needing to focus prayer on fair matchmaking for Project A, that it will not be stinky.

Sir you are gold peak, you haven’t experienced the game and project A is likely to frustrate you once you’ve played the same number of hours as you have in OW

This just happened to me today, I’m done, and it hasn’t been fun! Only Blizzard thing allowed in my household now, will be a Mei supporting the Hong Kong protesters poster…

It will still take fps players from overwatch because in theory competitively the entire game is better structured

Some guy did the math before and it was roughly 150 games to get roughly accurate SR , accounting for teammates influence on your SR.
