Complaints…but paying them

Just a thought

how many of the complaints about the game are being made by people that are throwing money at blizz (however frequently that occurs)

Because here’s the harshest reality of all:

All blizz sees is people supporting what they’re doing

Like how bad can 5v5 be (for example) if the same people complaining about it are buying into the current game? :man_shrugging:t2:

Shouldn’t overthink it too much. Some of the people who really want the game to improve are still involved in FOMO and other involvement-based bait.

And that’s fine…but money talks…and that’s what blizz is interested in…so if people are paying then how bad can things be really?

Would you not be more inclined to do something if the money line was dropping? (From blizz’s perspective)

That’s the thing, though. They’re riding the fine line where players are complacent and invested enough to simply not want to miss out.

Game has a lot of attention, the money follows suit.

Mass consumers are not the same as critical consumers.

It’s kinda like how we’ve only made maybe two decent movies in the U.S. in the last, like, six years.

I’m afraid to ask which 2 those were

I was throwing in a random low number, especially since art is dying.

I rather enjoyed Weird and Violent Night, though the latter does have its issues. John Wick 4 was alright, too. A bit less meaningful than the others, but not bad by any means.

Think the newest good movie otherwise was probably Kingsman: the Secret Service.

People buy stuff because they feel its worth it. You are trying to over analyse the forums

I think another harsh reality is if people did quit buying stuff and the game died it still wouldnt go back to ow1 or 6 vs 6.

It would just get shut down, even more likely if MS takes over

If you’re a CEO with a golden parachute or investor, things are awesome.

If you’re an actual developer who cares about their product and wants people to respect and enjoy your work… not super duper.

Financially it’s probably fine.

I think it’s smarter to consider all aspects though.

i think that ship sailed ages ago…

They are still out there, but most of them you won’t catch trying to tout “live” services. If you want a great example of a developer like that, check the Among Us guys. Even if you don’t like the game you gotta respect that they ditched their “sequel” plans and just jammed everything into their current game.

oh not just forums

but i think that worth it part applies to the game and not just the individual purchase…why buy a skin for example for a game you dont think is worth playing

and the reality is that those numbers are what blizz is really looking at…so i think its a valid question…how bad is the game at the end of the day if youre going to put money into it anyway

Who says people are doing that? If they dont log in they wont be buying skins

I never play games that i feel are not worth playing. that doesnt make sense

not you specifically…but i would bet money that many people who are on here constantly claiming something or another is awful and makes the game not worth playing, have also poured in a pretty penny on the game…“game is awful, but here you go anyway” type deal

They would misinterpret it as the developers’ fault probably.

It’s not as simple as money. Ego plays a huge role in these things. A company I used to work for spent $20 million/year on a certain project. It ran for two years with zero results. They’re still pushing to get it in (it just hit the 5 year mark) because if it actually shuts down, the execs who sponsored the project would be admitting failure, and would be fired. Instead they’re riding it out as long as they can, until they can find a new job and switch before the consequences of their bad decision catches up.

I’ve worked for three major multi-national corporations so far, they all have that issue. The politics and ego behind not letting a certain executive’s ‘pet project’ fail is a huge part of why companies double down on bad decisions.

the term is the ‘sunk cost fallacy’. Honestly, the best skill you can build if you want to work in technology is learning how to change the minds and influence people in more powerful positions than yours. That will take you farther than any development or design skills ever will.

Likely far to many… look back to the whole “lootboxes are gambling thing” who were people screaming? The people buying them likely upset they did not get what they wanted… the rest is diddnt care because we werent buying them…

Look at TF2, the mainstream servers have been riddled with bots and cheaters to a near unplayable level. For 3.5 years. The playerbase screams about constantly, but every time a new lootbox comes out they forget all about the bots and cheaters and climb over each other to get and open that box for about 2 weeks… then back to screaming…

It’s a weird sado-masochistic relationship between the player base and the company. :zipper_mouth_face:

The die has been cast and this ship has already sailed… Blizzard will not change the way they handle monetization. If anything they’ll pull another lie and release Overwatch 3 as soon as there’s a better way of making money than rotating FOMO cash shops and battlepasses.

I bought tracer mythic last season she is my main, i even bought the bundle in the end cause of 20 tier skips as I didn’t have time.

I m very critical of the game but I’m also attached to certain parts esp tracer.

For every “how bad can it be?” the standard market price goes up another bit

Bit by bit it goes up and quality goes down until people finally snap and quit enmasse then the market crashes

I feel like this has happened before

And it feels like Nintendo remembers it too
