It is based of win and losses. Then they apply a modifier after.
It hasn’t changed for years, other than now you are shown a % instead of a number.

Anything you write is awful bro. So think before you type (if possivle lol)
Initially, it takes your QP mmr to gage your rank when you do your placement.
I would ignore the troll. At best they are a super casual weekend warrior player, they have not put in the hours it takes to understand this game. I’ve also seen their gameplay and it’s…sub par
You can, you set them to ignore for the time period you specify. But it’s ironic you say this and then…
Given everything you say, you can claim others “don’t understand the game”.
That being said, I’ve played since late in the original OW1 beta. Played in every rank, in scrims, I’ve grinded for days to climb. So yeah, now I’m casual, because I got out of the game what I wanted back then. Now I just enjoy playing when I want to play.
Maybe stop making stories up.
That’s what I’m saying. We won the same amount of placement games.
When you play ranked for the first time your QP mmr is being used for seed for rank placement.
So its possible your friend had a higher qp mmr.
QP mmr doesnt affect competitive after that ever.
Also Bronze 5 is a “big rank” compared to the others. Normally a single division is “100 sr” but bronze 5 is around 1000 sr.
Thus, as the “rank progress” shows percentiles and not SR points directly, if you both gained same amount of SR from a game, in percentages your gains will be smaller.
bronze 5 is a special case in that regard.
