I know people who think balancing the game around what is “annoying” is a good idea are going to treat this like a big joke, but I’ve been playing Sombra since she released. She’s my favorite character, she’s basically the reason I even play OW. I have a couple other mains but I just don’t enjoy them nearly as much. Now between the limited roster in Arena and Comp bans , I just can’t play my favorite character in two of the three “core” game modes. This sucks.
I also have characters I hate but I take no joy in banning them because it feels like, at best, a band aid on characters that might be overtuned, and at worst conforming the game to my worst biases based on who I play and who is most annoying for them to fight. The bans don’t solve any problems and just make the game significantly worse for anyone who plays unpopular characters. Really just a miserable state of affairs. I’m just gonna wait for Deadlock or Marathon or something.
You will not find sympathy on these forums. Folks here will be quick to judge you for desire to play those characters and put the blame for whatever things are happening back onto you. It’s futile. Come to terms with the fact competitive games are more than anything ruled by emotions and be ready to play something else or not engage with the game at all. For now, I chose the latter.
So do what everyone agrees on and has agreed on for months: Petition Blizzard to finally fix those characters so that playing against them is not annoying anymore.
I say this as a Zarya main. You’ll just have to start learning an alt, that’s about all I can tell you. If that’s too much to ask, well… I guess there is always Rivals
Yep I’d also maybe abstain from playing (or at least from playing ranked), let them know on social media, etc. The game doesn’t exist without us so speak out.
Honestly, as much as I play sombra, I don’t even care that she gets banned as often as she does. But if you do 1 trick, yeah it does suck.
Part of it comes from all my time as a sym player where you’ll get match ups that make sym practically non existent and you either get off the hero or lose. I lost any attachments I had.
On the brightside, i have never had more fun on zen while melting tanks.
Well… I never remember a crusade against some character in Rivals. Even when Hela was outright broken, it wasn’t a clear cut to ban her 100% of the times. On top of it, bans there were a thing for only the tiers where “people know what they’re doing” - i.e. dia and above (though I heard they changed it lately). That would mean way less influence of emotions and bans happening in order to address compositions and combinations. Rage-induced bans were fairly rare to see there because it could easily cause a game.
No, it’s unplayable if you ONLY play an annoying hero and refused to swap until recently. The devs have been on record saying that they believe you should be able to play multiple heroes and that they would not take how one tricks felt into consideration if they were to add hero bans, so this should be of no shock to you
You aren’t judged for wanting to play a hero, you are judged for only playing one hero and never swapping and somehow being surprised that the devs put in hero bans despite what one tricks think when the devs said that if they added hero bans they would do it despite what one tricks think.
Like if you were a masters 5 kiriko one trick last season and you are now losing a lot of sr because she’s getting banned then you didn’t deserve that rank to begin with
dog i play other characters but being straight up barred from playing my favorite like 6 games in a row i think its reasonable to be like “ok this isnt fun or good” lol
