Combined with spawn location, respawn times are too short

Big fact. If respawns were at least 15 seconds instead of 10 this game would be much better and less of a stallfest.

Apparently they’re going to get shorter in 2… yay… more stalling for the win!

I play Overwatch to play Overwatch, not spend half the match spectating while I’m dead.

With 1 less tank, kill the tank, kill the supports and MURDER THE DPS… Where will they have time to stall?

2cp are goin away so it won’t be the case.

More wait times is also bad for the attackers since they have to walk a lot and have to waste time to regroup.

Or you know, do the smart thing and keep attacker respawns at 10 seconds, and have defender respawns slightly longer to balance out the attacker disadvantage and make defence less overpowered.

Sorry it’s just baffling that the game has been out 6 years and Blizz never once toyed or experimented with the respawn times and having different respawn lengths for attack / def.

I think a big way to help with stalling without making respawn too long is just putting all abilities on cool downs when respawning like with Hammond’s grapple. It would also make things a bit more fair and equal for most heroes like Tracer compared to Mei.

If you want to be extra fair you can just disable abilities for X time or put all on the same cool down.

Not that extra respawn time is that bad, just not as fun as doing something.

They touched them once I think but yes, there weren’t many attempts to fixing the mode at all.

3-5 seconds is a long time in this game.

They did.

Don’t now the full extent of it, but at least these exist:

  • Defenders have longer respawn lengths than attackers during overtime, dependent on the att/def ratio on point (at least for 2cp).

  • Defenders have faster respawns after losing 2cp point A, to avoid rolls (was introduced quite a bit post-launch, in like 2019 or 2020) .

People have no clue how to regroup is the problem

They run at the enemy like it’s solo deathmatch right from spawn regardless of it being 6v1
